Hi, I was wondering is someone could either write a guide, or point me to a guide that shows me how to play PC games that require a CD in to play without it? I remember looking up widescreen gaming the other day and came across something like that...but since that wasn't what I was looking for I didn't pay much attention...>_>

more or less you just need to find alcohol 120% tutorials for making .iso images of cds. you'd make an exact copy of the disc, minus any protection that might be there, onto the hard drive. then load up the image, it'll register as a disc in a virtual drive and you're set. btw, alcohol 120% is free no matter what, even after the "trial ends" they say you can still use it, though i have a full version.

GameDrive 9.0 works good too... but I believe it only comes with BFG products. (My wife got it with her 6200OC)

1 - Burn an image of the CD/DVD.
2 - Get either Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools (I preffer DT, runs smoother for me then A120%)
3 - Mount the image to a drive created by A120%/DT.

But burning the game into an .ISO and having it on your hard drive will be using alot of your diskspace, for example if it's for a 4.0GB DvD game disk.. you would have to use that extra 4gb of disk space to play your game without the DVD/CD..

There are other options.. You can find the "Game Fixes" @ MegaGames.com ;)

gameburnworld.com have alot of mini images and cracks for pretty much any game you could want. The problem with isos is that they take up loads of hard drive space.

Is posting links to cracks allowed? If not I can edit the above... or a mod can delete it....

i use atitool for making images and Deamon tools for using the images because some images can't be used for playing when i use atitool. Such games are better protected for images.

I know many people who use cracks on legit games. Especialy in this day and age when copy protection means the cd cant even be read by your freaking computer! I remember when I had to install an old cd drive cause BF2 wouldnt read right on my dvdrw (it installs cause install dosnt check for copy protection, but the game would CTD on start up). I was able to find a min-image for that game (online games need images because most good ones will crc check the games files to make sure they are not tampered with. Of course most online games dont need the cd to load).

you guys are over complicating it, there is no need for an image once its installed. go to gamecopyworld and download the cracked exe file. then replace it with the standard one. thats all, just start the game normally, no cd needed!

As long as we are discussing legitimate copies of the games, I don't have a problem with the cracked .exe. No bittorrent stuff please.

Only problem with that is that online games don't like cracked .exe's many times because of cheat protection, in which case you need to either use the actual CD or an image as we're suggesting.

I mainly mount so that I don't constantly need to use my cd/dvd drive and the cd/dvd, giving them a bit more life in the long run. Plus, it is a heck of a lot quieter then having your drive whirring, whizzing and humming :D .

Side note. I'm guessing mounting images would use less power for our machines since the computer won't be reading off the cd/dvd drive, which would equal more battery life. Anyone know if that's right?
