I have an addiction, its called steam. I MUST play thought the story/campaign on all games i buy on steam no matter how much i like or hate them. I ONLY buy games at steam for this sole purpose of putting the completed games in my completed folder. As soon as i start a game i must finish it.
I never buy games from other places than Steam because than it messes up my completed list and thats the biggest reason i even play games at all. They mostly stopped being fun, now i only play them to complete them, so i can get them in that folder and feel good for a few hours before i start a new one.
I got about 80 games left, since many of my games are only multiplayer and cannot be completed. I expect to have finished all my currently owned Steam games within year 2015.
I used to play though the games in alphabetical order but i gave that up because i didnt wanna play 5 command and conquer games in a row etc. Now i just pick and choose whatever i wanna play, but in the end all MUST be completed!

Help me find a new life purpose and tell me: What Else is There!!??

I love games. I spend way too much time playing them. You are at a whole different level here.
I'm giving you a life purpose to step away from the pc and go do something else. At least maybe read one book fire every game you play. Do it in a coffee shop and don't bring your laptop.
Then graduate to some other non gaming activity once a week. Seriously. -
you must be single..

That's why nowadays I only buy games which I want to play. -

how old are you

Wish I were more like you. Instead I often buy games I like the look of in a sale, play it halfway through and then promptly move on to another new game that just went on sale! I have a huge backlog to clear. There are a few exceptions where I am captivated by the story and characters and/or having so much fun with the gameplay so much I feel compelled to see it through to the end such as Portal 2, BioShock Infinite, Borderlands 2, Mass Effects, Half Lifes, The Walking Dead etc
I'm gradually getting through my backlog... gradually. Trouble is, it keeps on growing -
It would be quite ironic if you played through hundreds and hundreds of stories, but forgot to play your own...

I think il take my GF out for a korean BBQ tonight  -
Maybe spend half the time you do playing games getting more active in a job search. Seriously. Research companies, make your own database including details about the company, date applied, pros, cons, etc. To get a job it can be a full time job just to find one. I think it's great you get the time to play and actually finish them, but imho only if you are satisfied with other aspects in your life that need to be handled. If you're happy where you're at, then all the more to you. Good luck!

If you didn't have a girlfriend, this thread would probably be the most depressing thing I've ever read. The fact that you enjoy regular human contact makes this all seem ok.
But seriously, this is some next level obsession. -
When its come to working and having a job i just dont like it. Tried several jobs and quit em all, its just not my kinda fun i guess and i dont rly NEED the extra money but it could come in handy for a new gaming rig
Maybe someday when i really NEED a job to survive, but today aint that day -
-
So i work a little bit but got no real job... -
Think about
Seriously. What about life insurance, saving for retirement, social security, what happens if you and your gf break up... etc. -

Anyway, this has turned into a judgement thread. -

I would love to play video games and hang out with my girlfriend instead of working. That would be awesome.

I just have to throw in this video response to your "What's there left..." I'm with you.. I've fought back from there to some form of moderation and it's fantastic... I think i'm still spending way too much time on gaming. Daily battle.. This song is about Dave in rehab fighting with his relationships and ends up breaking up with his GF (insert gaming instead of GF). This is the best video sorry no Friedman, but Broderick rips so it's all good..

If you can't find work that's "fun" then that's actually quite normal >_>. If you CAN find work that's fun, all the more power to you, but you need to find what that is. I'm a person who often gets sick and usually misses a lot of work or school etc, since I was about 4 or 5, and even I found a job. It's a job where I make under $4 USD an hour and have four separate jobs to do there even though I technically only was hired to do one, but it's a job where I'm not fired if I can't make two or three days now and then. I simply get a pay cut. I could live without having it and leech for a game or two off my friends, but having your own money is better. By far. It's good you can admit your laziness, but geez man, do something. You really can't be like that forever.

My location is at the side. Also, I did translate the currency, but the buying power is the same. I.E. it's 6.35 TTD to 1 USD or so, so a $60 Call of Duty game sells for over $500 here, for example. Technically it should be closer to $400, but since it's imported they take extra taxes and the store wants to make more money etc so... yeah. That's our purchasing power. Exactly as I said it.

Hey, give this guy a break
I would LOVE to be in the position to play videogames and hangout with the gf all day.

Very interesting thread OP. My problem is I buy so many games and I hardly get past 20 or 30 minutes because I am overwhelmed with my options! I mainly am playing online games because I can get a few matches in and then stop. I'm actually making it a priority to play MORE games lately. I only was 20 minutes into Dues Ex:HR and honestly i am wondering what the hoopla is about the game?! It seems very boring and basic, but maybe someone can tell me it gets better. The cover system feels robotic like a Gear of War game; but I digress.
I also don't get the whole stereotype about not having a girlfriend. I have always had a girlfriend and while it impacted gaming in the beginning (I played less), I always went back to gaming and not one has ever minded. I mean there is a LOT of downtime in any relationship and I like to spend mine gaming. Now the job thing you alluded to; well I guess I would lessen the gaming while trying to get work.
I have been working full time since graduating college a long time ago. I find gaming to be an awesome stress reliever. And quite honestly, after going through a pretty bad breakup....I am quite looking forward to expanding my gaming empire and making these games my bi......oh crap....maybe that is indeed why I am single
Cheers. and Game On. -

What's a girlfriend? Where can I download that from?

I know how this guy feels. I work at home selling on ebay. I only "work" 2-3 hours per day but I also do 2-3 hours per day on research on finding new things to sell on ebay. When I want too, I dont do any research and just work my few hours and I am done for the day. But I am happy with it and make more than triple from my last real job, 5 years ago.
My problem is that I dont have a girl friend but in the process of getting one. -
Personally I would never play through an aweful game just because you have to finish the story. One thing is wasting time on doing funny things, another is taking it to a totally different level. But who am I to blame, maybe you have way more time to spend on these things than me -
-
As long as OP enjoys his life and doesn't have gaming interfere with the necessities, play away. Gaming no longer carries a stigma, in fact most gamers are 25-35, gainfully employed, and generally productive members of society.
That being said, after reading through OP's post, OP MAY (and i stress that) have a mild-to-moderate form of OCD. Hard to tell the variation between just a gamer completionist and true compulsion, but if OP finds he has compulsions beyond just the need to finish the games purchased, a visit to a licensed mental health professional would not be a bad idea. -
As for me, all I'm trying to now is to get through all the AAA titles i bought but never touched like dishonored or fallout 3, the rest is just up in the air. -
i like games too, but why would you want to set such an useless goal? learn autocad, design, video making, atleast something productive that you would be willing to get better at, or in real life - gym(start bulking up), sprint, what ever. your current goal will have no reflection of what you have done with your life, just waste of 2 nice years.

I have to be honest...I admire the guy. Not like a heroe or something along those line (hell I don´t even think I have any heroes either way). I use to game quite a bit, then went on to travelling the world for around 6 years. I haven´t really been able to game at all over those 6 years, but hoping to get back into it here soon. So if you want I will gladly change places with you MSIlover, and you can live life to what I´d personally consider its ¨fullest¨ (travelling and learning as such) and I could start gaming again.

As far as spending so much time on gaming, my Dota 2 playing time is about to hit 1000 hours. that's 41 days of pure DOTA 2 i've played since the first beta. I don't know if i should be ashamed or proud of myself. Or a bit of both. -
What about other "useless" goals? Like reading books? Or making miniature ships in a bottle? Or walking the distance of the continental US? Those things would be considered awesome, but are not "useful" to anyone either. This is a sign that video games still have a stigma attached to them...
People do what we enjoy... and some people enjoy different things. -
Except moderation is the key to everything... too much of a good thing is a bad thing. And prioritizing hobby over income when you clearly have no personal means of producing any, or very little, is an issue. Hard to feel sorry if their relationship breaks up, parents can't help any more, and he's sitting there with his joystick in his handing wondering why he's living on the street.

Anyway I feel like I'm going way off topic but still something to consider before people start labelling the OP with different names/ideas. -
Thought i would add a picture from where i live
New years eve yay...
Not much to do here except for Steam

You need to think about worse case or at least "what-if" scenarios and prepare for that. Someone decides they don't need to work, play games all day, that's fine if they've got means to make ends meet other ways. But if bad things happen, all of a sudden they're faced with homelessness or total poverty. And then they want sympathy and money. But you know what? Nobody cares. I've been down that road, and it wasn't for sitting home and playing games, it was real tragedy. After working a professional career for 13 years, I was unemployed for 3.5 years, left work just after our second baby was born. My wife died shortly after, had 2 babies to care for, and I actually HAD saved for my future, and that kept me alive. I had some Social Security income, I could have relied on that for the next 15 years, but instead chose to go back to work despite the issues/concerns with maintaining a home, cooking, cleaning, and managing two kids to daycare every day. Is this ideal? No. Could I have survived of Social Security if I had not gone back to work? Yes. But in 15 years, then what? Be in my 50's and nothing to live on? -
Except from that logic its a good post. -

yes but... what if?
