Hey, is this really true or not?
cause I was watching some vids on youtube about playing games such as battlefield 2142, 2, and counter strike source on a MAC on youtube.
Are those really true? or are those fakes on the site?
Vids are below

From my opinion, it looks like it is for real, but it could be fake?
-
Of course its true, why wouldn't it be? Macs use Intel hardware now....
-
people play video games using windows via boot camp or parallels (i forget which one, though b/c i think one is better at it than the other). either way, it's fairly common from what i've heard.
-
http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/
You can now run Windows on Mac hardware. -
Oh wait I get what you mean. In OSX, not just on a mac. Well, still, no big deal. It's obviously some kind of emulator. Like Linux has Wine.
-
-
Why wouldn't it be true? Bootcamping on windows would be just like using a windows gaming laptop. Some games are Mac compatible.
-
Ah maybe everyone should watch the videos he posted first before replying...
Anyway it seems real for the first one. I looked up CrossOver and it seems pretty interesting. The other two is dualbooting. BF2 is alot more demanding than CSS, I doubt it will run as well on CrossOver. Also how is Wine not an emulator? On the Wine description it says: "Think of Wine as a compatibility layer for running Windows programs." which seems to me like an emulator. Some clarification will be great. -

So which is better?
Bootcamp or parallel?
Cause I heard parallel, you can run the apple os and switch to windows os easily by pressing the alt key and gives you options
I also herad that the bootcamp just stays with one os. If you want to switch to the other, you have to restart the computer.
Can anyone clarify this for me? THANKS! -
I sincerely doubt anyone is running those games on a regular Macbook, which has a GMA 950 that won't even run Half-Life 2 that well. You'll need a $2000+ Macbook Pro with a Radeon X1600 to run higher-end PC games.

Well, I'm probably going to get the mac pro with a 2.33 ghz intel processor. Anyone here have any comments of the mac pro if they have one?
-
Overly expensive. You can get a similarly equipped PC for hundreds less.

My school requires a mac book or a mac book pro.
-
Its actually a requirement? That's stupid. Why?
-
... What school do you go to ... that's silly.
-
Well maybe he's learning graphic design or video editing...I've heard of courses like that where they can buy the Mac for you or you bring a Mac to class. Of course you pay for the Mac if they buy.

I go to a private school, not a public school. :X

Macbook Pro's are nice, workplace just bought my dad the 2.33ghz one and he loves it. Yes, you can play games. My dad is a huge fan of lord of the rings online and loaded up vista and bootcamp said it ran well. He is by no means a hardcore gamer but it ran it well enough for him.
Also I wish I had gone to your school, would have loved to have an excuse to buy a MBP
Good luck with your purchase may it give you many years of functionality and fun! -
Welcome to 2006.
