There is a version of Directx 10 that allows people to run Directx 10 in the 64 bit version of Win XP.
That means all the cool features of Directx 10 in games without the drop in fps that Vista causes.
Buuuuuuuuuuut... I would like to hear from you... is it really good? Does it work well with games? I mean, it should. I don't want to take risks, although XP is way cheaper than vista and that's a nice incentive
I just want to play Crysis, all very high, at minimum 20 fpsand I believe that this OS and a very nice NP9262 can do the trick
-
Uhhh....what? There is no DX10 for XP.
-
There is DX10 for XP, it was made by some Russian guys. Many DX10 games worked but when i tried to play BF2, it said I had the wrong DX version. I do not know if there is a DX10 hack for 64-bit though.
-
Well.. it works as some people at tweakforce reported , but its buggy.
-
It emulates the DX10 library under DX9.0C so DX10-only apps can be run. You do not get DX10 randering
-
Yeah but... Crysis still looks pretty?
-
-
it's hard to notice unless i can have both DX9 and DX10 machines side by side. I tried both on my 5793 and didn't really noticed any difference, especially when I was being shot at.

-
So... still no directx 10?
-
-
Like I said it's through emulation. If you do get DX10 randering it's gonna be 10 times worse than Vista.
-
This is a total waste. Just get 64-bit Vista and enjoy the high performance AND DX10.
-
Vista is way too expensive where I live. And in china you can get it for 40 bucks! What the hell, I'm going to my local chinatown and see what bargain I can get. Thanx all for your opinions.
-
You know, the chinatown version is probably some guy who pirated it and burned it on a disk and lightscribed it or something. Don't support piracy.
-
That's why you get either the OEM version (HP is same price as XP home and business is same price as XP pro) or with a new computer -

KGann, at least the Sager justifies it. Vista as a lot of stuff that frankly in my opinion is useless. It does have some cool features, but most of it is crap, and they charge you a lot to get access to the best features. That's extortion.
And I haven't bought it yet, I'm still saving money. -
i used to think Vista with its DX10 are crap, but knowing Vista will support DX11 (which is gonna be something Major) i think getting Vista is worth it.
-
-
I wouldn´t say Vista is crap at all. I use both XP and Vista in Dual boot. Look up some recent benchmarks and you will see XP is not ahead anymore in terms of game performance over Vista. I see this myself too since I use both for gaming.
This Vista is crap is just because people haven´t optimized their OS in the first place. Same with XP was crap too but when you tweak it it is no longer crap. -
Let's see then. BTW JCMS, in Argentina, Vista is more expensive than XP in the stores I checked.
-
so you have money to play crysis at very high but can't afford a vista?
