I got a tough one here for someone...Im trying to play my xbox on my computer screen, I bought a HDAV cable from xbox that plugs into my computer into the 15-prong side port, and then theres two cables (one red and one white) that must go into the front by the mouse pad. The tail end plugs into the back of the xbox, I get nothing, not even sound on the laptop...I tried looking for a way to change the input via NVIDIA graphics but I got no where. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
PS: I called xbox and hp and i cant get any information on how to do this. The model is HP Pavilion dv2000. Windows Vista, AMD Turion x2 (Im assuming thats the graphics card).

All the audio/vid ports on the notebook are outputs, to do what you want to do, you will need a TV tuner card, the main problem is that most users experience lag. Its not a very good but the only option. Not exactly a cheap option either. I wouldn't bother.

Edit: ^^Beat me by 1 minute
You can't plug an Xbox into a laptop without having a TV Tuner card. The 15 prong port you are referring to is a VGA Out only. The only way to play Xbox on a laptop is to go get a TV Tuner card (~$80) and plug it in through that.
P.S. The Turion is the CPU, Just thought I'd throw that out there ;-) -
TV tuner will do the trick, but be prepared for lag. not worth the hassle IMO.

I belive you need a TV Tuner. But it can get laggy. I recommend an Expresscard Tuner over USB. It will be alot less laggy and smoother. Its much faster than USB. You will need a Tuner with the RCA plugs on it (the 3 wires with dif. colors). Ports on computers are out only. TV Tuner is your only option as far as I know.

you need a TV tuner, as said.
But i still really see no point in playing a console game on a laptop monitor, seams really pointless. -
Maybe also, for people that bring thier x360's places, but dont bring a TV, but could bring a laptop. -
...or you can just play the game on your laptop?
-
Besides the card, is there anything else I need?
How bad is the lag, lets say if I'm just playing on one console (not online)? Let's say between 1 and 10.
By the way thanks for the quick response. -

Like i said before, there is practically no lag if you purchase a tv tuner card that uses software decoding, and not hardware. I'm able to play F-Zero GX (gamecube) on my tv tuner card just fine with no lag. As you'd imagine, this game is fast paced and requires quick, twitchy movements.
The only downside to a software decoding card is that you need a beefier CPU, but by today's standards that should not be a problem.

they didn't mean internet lag...

Ok, I bought a PCTV HD Pro stick (801e) and I cant get anything on the channels, the xbox is on, it plugs into the the adapter which plugs into the side of the stick and that goes into the usb port I have the yellow cable of the xbox going into the yellowish cable of the adapter, I cant get in touch with anyone at Pinnacle.

Not sure what could be wrong, but make sure the cable is switched to TV not HDMI (little toggle at the end of the cable on the xbox side).
