Can you even get into the BIOS?

I don't really know what to do, other than tell you good luck trying to explain this one to Dell. You probably voided your warranty when you did that.

    But good luck.

    hmmm very bad move!

if u had a normal desktop PC u wudve simply just got a PCI card and booted from that and then reflashed.

i cant see a solution here except

    - return to Dell to get reflashed if it still works, maybe u cud tell them its just broken and they wont notice and just replace it if its very new

    - buy another video card, replace and thats that i think (if it can be replaced)

The Video card daughter board can be replaced no problem with that, but I think taking it to DELL will be better.
Hopefully they won't charge much for that.

You can't replace video cards with new or old ones...You can only do that with desktops, not notebooks.

Some notebooks are modular GPUs...this model happens to be one of them.

If Dell offers multiple video options with a model, you can usually replace the broken video board with a new one (it's not interchangeable like with a desktop, but it is replaceable). It'll cost him to get a new one, though, if they'll even sell him one.

ahh i ddint think it was actually running. if it did then i wudve suggested that cuz i did that once with my old 9800se, had to learn the technique before i risked flashing!

dont do it again though, ya got lucky this time, next time it might not even load at all! also the benefits aren't always worth the costs

Well, regardless of the model notebook you have...if you have integrated graphics you cannot upgrade them.

Dell's a tricky to upgrade. You have to have a dedicated card to start with, and the replacement card must be offered with the current model of notebook. For instance, with this guys 6400...if it was offered with an X1600, he could upgrade to that provided he had one of the non-integrated cards to start with. But that X1600 would have to come from Dell, no exceptions because they use their own GPU design and packaging.

The following Dell notebooks take advantage of modular design, but it was never really intended as an upgrade path...but it does help some people:
M1210 (if they were to ever release a better card)
    6400/E1505
    9400/E1705
    M1710

Of course, that is (again) provided you start with a dedicated card and upgrade from there. Several other notebooks have upgradeable GPUs, but few and far between. A forum member called "Ice-Tea" knows a lot more about this, and is involved in the modular notebook GPU business.

so wait can somebody explain to me what the hell happened? I know a bit about architectures, but I don't know why you would want to reflash a GPU, could someone explain?

It's possible to flash a 7900gs to increase it's performance to the level of a 7950gtx.
