Hi can someone just clarify if this is a typo on the graphics card saying it's 2gb?

While all of the Ti variants of the 1050 I've seen have 4GB to date, I'm fairly confident Lenovo could opt to produce a 2GB Version. There are 4GB versions of the regular non Ti 1050 that Clevo makes. Edit: Even Lenovo's site doesn't show a 2GB Ti version but does show a 2GB non Ti- where did you see this? If you are in the US, Staples has a i7 4GB version for 849 currently, and it looks like Lenovo's site start at 779 with an i5 and 4GB Ti.

It's a 2GB card on a low-end device. What do you expect?

I learned that there apparently exists 2GB version of MXM kepler GTX 860M, so I honestly wouldn't be suprised if there exist a 2GB version 1050TI.

The 860K started out as a 2GB card and the 4GB "norm" came about when most people bought 4GB versions only (so as to future-proof) and OEMs ditched the 2GB cards

Don, basically the gl502vm was out of stock and I needed to get something today for use... decided against the Y520 like your advice. I actually ended up with the same as you. I went into a store and they had an ex display one, ended up being £750 so £250 cheaper than the 502VM and £100 cheaper than the Lenovo so chuffed.

Not a bad trade-off. The 970M is basically a 1050 Ti.
Just remember to undervolt the CPU. Also, check the BIOS version. There are 2 relevant BIOSes. BIOS 203 which is quieter but also lets the CPU and GPU run hotter(90-95*C on the CPU side and 85-86*C on the GPU but). BIOS 300 runs the fans faster and results in thermals around 85-88*C CPU-side and 80*C GPU side. (these numbers are without an undervolt, though).
I played around with everything and eventually did the following.
BIOS 203 with the CPU set at 2.6GHz baseclock and around 0.8-0.9v under load. (I essentially disabled Turbo Boost by setting the maximum power state to 99% - it does reduce performance but I haven't noticed anything ingame yet). My thermals are around 86-88*C CPU and 85*C GPU in Witcher 3 Novigrad (the highest I've gone). In less demanding games like HotS or Shogun 2 I average 70-75*C on the CPU and 70*C on the GPU.Vasudev likes this.
