    Hi All,
I am new to notebookreview.com. I am currently using a Dell XPS laptop computer.
    The specs are
    Intel i7 Q740 (@1.73GHz with turbo boost upto 2.9GHz)
    8GB RAM DDR3
2GB nvidia GeForce 425M graphics card

I tried playing NFS Hot Pursuit (2010) on it and it is getting stuck a lot. The game lags so much so that there is no point playing any game on it.
I have tried tweaking the graphics settings in the nvidia graphics control panel but it is still not working

I was really excited about played some good hig-end games on this laptop hoping that this laptop would support them. But I am really disappointed that I am not able to run even a 2010 game :(

Is there anything I might be doing wrong that is affecting the performance? Any suggestions to improve performance is welcome!

    Thanks a lot

There is a LOT you can do to optimize your system settings and increase your gaming performance.

Here are some of the basics to get you on your way Ultimate Laptop Gaming Tweaks - Part 1, The Basics by Andros - YouTube

keep in mind that I made this video 2 years ago, and Nhancer has lost it's use for many of the newer Nvidia drivers that came out.

You can still do the same tweaks in the Nvidia Control Panel and get the same results.

Sadly you GPU is not a high end one so is not going to play most games with eye candy, thats not to say it is not capable as though, make sure you have the video settings in the game set to medium or low, also if you monitor supports full HD try turning down the resolution in game also.

Its always worth making sure you GPU drivers are upto date also as they can make a difference.

Theirs a chart here of what you laptop should be capable of running and at what settings : http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-Geforce-GT-425M.34152.0.html

I ran the games at the lowest graphics settings possible. I was expecting at least NFS to run smoothly on these specs.

I downloaded the software at nhancer.com.
sadly the it is not running on my system. I am not sure why. when I open the program, the logo appears and disappears. No other window pops up after that.
Is it supposed to be like that or I am doing something wrong there?

Couple of things to consider, make sure you power profile is set to balanced or high and that the laptop is plugged it, it will automatically downclock the parts if its set to power saver or is not plugged into the mains. Even on low you should be able to play the game smoothly I would of thought.
