Ok, I have heard that an 8600 GT will outrun an 8600 GS------I have looked on the nVIDIA website and it says that the GT has more stream proccesors. The GS has fewer, but they are higher clocked. Wouldn't that make them even out equal in proformance?? Everyone says the GT is better, but like i said-wouldnt it make sense that it is equal? Here's a link to the information. Thanks in advance for reading! go down to the bottom of the page to specifacations.

Does it? Can a racing car and a truck carry the same amount of cargo measured in miles/hour? (the racing car can take more trips per hour, but the truck can carry more per trip)

The answer should be fairly obvious. It depends. Well duh. ;)
How much faster is the racing car, and how much bigger is the capacity of the truck?

And similarly, how many more processors does the GT have, and how much faster are the GS ones?
If the GT has twice as many processors, and they're only 2% slower than the GS ones, shouldn't the GT be faster then?

If you want to know which is faster, look up a review of either one. They'll usually have benchmarks showing their performance relative to other cards in roughly the same class.

And as said above, do you really need four threads for asking about the 8600GT?

The GT has 2X the number of stream processors as GS. The GS is not running twice as fast as the GT (600Mhz VS 475Mhz at factory settings) So yes, GT>GS.

2nd the "Read the stickies" suggestion.

Well, clock speed difference advantage of 8600GS is pretty small - about 33%, which is nowhere enough to compensate for only having half the stream processors. So 8600GT is faster than 8600GS.
