My systems specs: MSI GT62VR, CPU: i7-6700HQ, Nvidia 1070, 32GB RAM, Windows 10 1803, Nvidia driver 419.67 (same problem on Nvidia driver 425)

Can someone please explain this FPS drop as shown in the graph? This is while playing BF1 max settings except AA and PP. I had no problems for 2 years playing smoothly at 60fps up until a week ago i have faced random stutters and fps drops that freezes the game for a split second. I used MSI AB to limit framerate to 40fps and had no problem, i then increased it to 50 fps and faced a few drops, i caught one on graph. As you can see it is GPU-driven: the GPU core clock and memory clock suddenly drop for a split second without any overheating (67C) and the CPU is steady 3,090MHz all cores and steady temperature 63C. This is NOT a thermal throttling case. Also there is no power limit or voltage limit flag when the fps drop happens. Never happened before, what could it be?

Run HWInfo64 and see if any limit reasons are flagged while in game

Are you running it on DX12? I've had that issue with DX12 render enabled, i switched back to DX11 and had no more lags.

I have had that problem before and temporarily disabling my AV seemed to clear it up. If you are using Windows Defender you might want to disable real time protection and see if it helps.

Find out if this happens on a non-400 series driver.

I have the whole Origin Games folder and each of the BF folders on the exclusion list of Avast, i believe thats the same thing as what you suggested. Besides I have had Avast for 3 years with no problems. This drop only occurred a few weeks ago.

Good point. I started noticing this micro-stutter after i updated the driver from 399 to 425 obligated by the purchase of BF5. BF5 would not run on a driver below 405 (or 415). But then again I wonder why there is no mass scale complaining about such an issue from the user-base of the 400 series drivers which is a big user-base. It is only me. It is a game breaking bug that prevents competitive play because i literally freeze for a split second in mid-battle.

This is an old issue. Windows most likely enabled memory compression. If you have alot of ram then disabling it should be no issue, but if you dont they your in trouble.

Maybe clean out the laptop heat sink. There could be dirt in there.
