    Doubtful. They will either do it themselves or license it. I don't think it's anywhere near affordable enough for them to be thinking about it for this coming up generation. Those should have been locked down a year or two ago if they are launching in 2014.

    This. I'm not going to vote in a poll that qualifies answers, but the big console manufacturers aren't going to support a third-party system that does something radically different from what they themselves offer. They'll do VR themselves or they won't support it at all.

    Will this project light a fire under those two companies to get a VR option to the market? Maybe. I wouldn't be surprised if they've been planning and developing something like this for two or three years already as mid-life boosts for their new consoles, ala Kinect and Move, with VR compatibility built into launch titles for the new VR system and going forward with new games and VR-compatible editions of previous releases.
