    See above for question.

I personally use manufacturer ones (Dell) right now. I'd tried laptopvideo2go back when I had Vista, but if anything it made my graphics problems worse, so I decided to stick with non-Beta products. Doesn't hurt at all that Dell's actually done a good job of keeping drivers up to date - I have a nearly 20% increase in performance with the March Dell drivers (171.73 I think) over the June ones.

The loss of overclocking doesn't really hurt - 8X Anisotropic instead of 16X. Sure it would be nice to overclock it, but I'd rather have my video card last than shorten its life with overclocking. Maybe in a few years I'll overclock. Got some artifacts with laptopvideo2go drivers in Vista (even stock clock) that scared me though, and didn't go away until I installed XP (even with mutliple Vista reinstalls), so I'm playing it safe for now.

On the other hand, if you can get better performance with laptopvideo2go, more power to you - I just can't afford anything nearly as powerful if something does go wrong :p .

Laptopvideo2go, 174.16 one as the other new ones won't run for more than 2 mins before they stop responding or downclock.

I was using the video driver offered by Windows Update, but the latest one gave me frequent BSODs. After using one of the LV2G drivers, no more issues...

LV2Go for me, I put up with the occasional BSOD or system freeze for better performance compared to stock manufacturer drivers.

I prefer using the 'official' manufacturer's drivers. Currently using 174.31 via Dell's downloads.

I despise the hit & miss deciphering of x.x1, x.x2, x.x3...ad naseum of the drivers at LV2G. It's counterproductive imo.

Sorry, but I am kind of confused here.

When referring to the 'video drivers', is it the same as the 'video card driver'?

How do I check which version is it? When I got to dxdiag, my nvidia geforce 9500m gs is running version 7.15.0011.5680.

    Yes, it's the same.

Your version is the last 5 digits of the long number. So... 156.80
    For instance, when I go to device manager, I see 7.15.1 1.6745 but I know it's 167.45 because that's what I installed.

Thank you. I just downloaded the 167.45 as well, should I install it now? or should I do a back up first? Also, will performance generally be better than the original one that I have on the computer?

Well, it's always a good idea to have your data backed up, but updating your graphics card driver shouldn't cause your computer to crash and be unable to recover (it's never happened to me).

If you're using the stock driver right now, then you should experience a performance increase. It may not be noticeable qualitatively, but quantitatively (through benchmarks like 3DMark06) you should notice an increase in performance.

Make sure you read the guide on installing lv2g drivers from their site...

    Also using lv2g infs

Note please, they are nvidia drivers with lv2g custom infs that lv2g sets up to be easier to transport/archive/use.

174.74 right now... 175.16 probably shortly for the release of Conan.

I'm using the 174.31 dell drivers... they run better and less jittery than 174.16, 174.93, and 175.70 that I've tried.

I'm using LV2G drivers, of course. I've used several of their drivers since I got my laptop last summer and I've had practically no troubles. I'm not sure exactly what driver I have right now since it works great and I haven't updated in months.
