I have a 1210 with the 7400 and am having poor gaming performance. I play counterstrike condition zero and it lags alot. The image quality is good but the lag is really bad. I play multiplayer and no one else in the game has a high ping. I also do not have any other programs running while I am playing counterstrike. I went to the 7400 control panel and put the 3-d level for high performance and it still doesnt do anything. Is this counterstrike or my system?

    Any ideas?

Lag and graphics are two different things. If your "lagging", its a problem with your connection.

If you have your detail set to high in the game then you won't get as many fps as you would if it was set at medium levels. Also, your ping is affected more by internet connection than your hardware.

The 7400 only has 64mb of dedicated memory and shares the other 192MB with the main memory, so the more system RAM you have will improve gaming performance. A 7200 RPM HDD would help also.

I checked my connection and its fine. My roomate plays as well and he does not have the problems I do. Also, I have played in multiple servers and they all have the same problems.

That would do it, lol. Also, if you still experience problems, try updating your drivers, or adding another GB of RAM for ultimate performance.

Yep, I have the m1210 as well, and if you run on battery I think it clocks the processor down and also messes with the network card and GPU some. I've been quite happy with the performance of mine-- but I've only benchmarked the grpahics so far, no gaming yet. How do you feel about the performance on AC power :) ?

You can change your power settings so the processor, grx card, ram, etc. dont clock down when your on battery power. Theres a bar that ranges from max battery to max performance, one for AC, and another for battery settings. I was just playing HL2 @ 1280x800, full settings w/16x AF on my battery for about 2 hours and it was running perfectly, no drops below 30 fps.

I have the 9 cell, and after those 2 hours of heavy gaming I still had about another hour of battery, if I continued gaming. If I stoped, say surfed the net, I would of had about 2 more hours. The 1210 really is a good gaming computer, especially for something for its size.

Well since I just got my 1210 and have never played any computer games until last week I wouldnt know the difference between choppiness and lag.

I also have the nine cell and my meter says 6:30 hours when fully charged without gaming.

choppiness is exactly that, the game running less smooth, and starting to look like a fast slideshow. Its kinda like those small books where you would hold the pages with your thumb, then let them go and it would look like the picture was moving, kinda like that, choppy. Lag is like slow motion, or when the gam just stops in intervals. You can still see the charcter animations, like their arms moving as they breath, but the world dosent move, and you cant move. Thats the difference.

yeah it had to be something stupid...I have the same cpu and same amount of ram (albiet mine is slightly slower) and I can run BF2 at med-high settings while still running aim with out the slightest decrease in performance.
