During actual gameplay, the game runs smoothly, but it's only during the loading screens does my PC choke up on and studders. Is this a harddrive related issue?

    I'm running:
    Quad Core 2.4GHz
    2GB G.Skill RAM
    8800GTS 512 (G92)

    Thank you in advance!

All games no matter what graphics card you have slow down drastically to a few fps during loading scenes. I presume this is due to the lack of any need during the single image loading background. This is only my experience mind...I maybe talking rubbish!

It's the loading screen, who cares?

My brother's desktop has a 8800GTX SSD 6XXddr3 and it has 3fps during loading screen hahah.

And it's just a loading screen, you cant play on the loading screen.

Dont worry about it if the game runs smoothly

You have nothing to worry about as the above posters have stated, the only thing that counts it the gameplay! :)

In some cases, COD4 loading screens advance the story. At least that's how it is on the 360.

Erm, I suppose so. There are debriefing videos during the loading screens in CoD4 though, it would just be cool to see what they're talking about.

But also, there is another problem. On the last map (and on the last map only) the screen freezes up everytime after roughly 3-4 minutes of flawless framerate play. I've had to replace a corrupted file from the original CD for this map because it wasn't loading at all earlier.

    Any help on this?

I only have the demo but on the loading screen for the map (I assume you mean the breifing part after/during the map loading) I get hundreds of fps using a 8400m.
