Seing as how I am a huuuuge GTA series fan, a friend gave me his old GTA3 cd and so here I was, on my way to play the first ever 3d GTA. Already finished San Andreas, but VIce City had an issue. I`ll get into that also.

Firstly, I installed GTA3 Liberty City and I mean,no matter what resolution I set, (frame limiter and vsync are off btw) the game runs EXTREMELY poor for my GPU. I mean, come on, I`ve maxed out San Andreas with AA and this one runs at 15-100 fps. Unplayable in some places to the point of headbashingwall thing...
Secondly the thing that stopped me from playing VIce City...I got up to a certain game percentage, and saves started loading slower and slower(black screen before showing the city got longer and longer) until it got over 5 minutes and pissed me the hell off and uninstalled it. Seems to start doing the same thing with Liberty City, savefiles load slower and slower. I`ve played crysis right before liberty city to check if there`s something wrong with my GPU, but it was perfect.

So, I guess... HELP ?

Well, you could tell us what drivers and graphics card you have, that would be very helpful

Also, try to max out vice city settings. It is cause Vice city might have direct X 8.1 one middle to low setting and have direct X 9.0 for high ones. And some GPU's actually have trouble rendering back far as 8.1

Vice City, uninstalled, explained why I got pissed off.
Using Vista x64, 169.25 driver right now.And the settings were maxed out as possible, and the minned out as possible...no specific difference o_O

Maybe the x64 is the problem.

Yea,maybe. But still that doesn`t help. I`m not going to buy another OS just for a game. Simply ridiculous.

Running in compatibility mode asks for the cds all the time and not even recognises them... o_O.
Installed patch 1.1 now savefiles will not even load. EVER.

run some people with your car? haha that sentence seems a little less violent than you intended.

anyway, that's the price you pay for x64....it may be fixed eventually but for now... try the ps2 version?

No PS2 version. Ok , I figured that since I have the legal copy, I went and got a no cd patch and most curiousely, not it works flawlessly.
X64 has nothing to do with it , apparently, and it`s not a dvdwriter glitch,I`m running other games just fine...
Bottom line, there was something wrong with the original exe.

Well bummer news, but it`s at it again.
After finishing the mission "The Job" were you rob a bank, after exiting the game and loading any other mission after that will make the game stop responding(meaning black screen,no loading...)
I`m so sick of this damn issue, I thought a patch would fix it, but the patch (GTA VC 1.1) only fixes poligon corruption, nothing to do with savegames not loading ,or loading very slowly.I could load any mission before that, but anything after "The Job" doesn`t load.
Now I know what you`re thinking, his copy is messed up.So I asked 3 different friends to give me their copies of the game, and it still does the same thing.NO LOAD .
Help...I really wanna finish GTA VC as I finished Gta3 the original and also San Andreas...

Is it because you have "Frame Limiter" on? Just a thought.

No. and come on, I have the nvidia 7950 GTX, I should be able to play at maximum details and native resolution easily, but i can`t.
Just started Gta san andreas(for the 5th time,I`m going for the 100%) and I get HORRIBLE performance. I had to set everything to low at native resolution to get over 20 fps or 1024x768 and high...no AA, that kills the performance.
I am shocked, if I didn`t know better I`d say my laptop hates gta series games.
I`ll reupdate the drivers and if all else fails, get Xp. Vista is gradually starting to piss me off.

If your running this on that clevo in your sig then I dont see why you have that problem, it could just be the CD is scratched or old or like they said DX8.1

The cd was not scratched, and as I said, tried 4 different copies. Now, I don`t know why, but San Andreas is also showing extremely poor performance, almost as if I was on battery. Can barely achieve over 40 fps at 1280x800 , 3 AA and settings high. If I go to Very High, that kills my fps. I just can`t believe that the 7950GTX is not up for this game, when I can play Half Life 2 with higher res and settings that this game...
It seems 169.28 is not so good for me after all... :(

Now here comes the thing that drives me nuts. Installed the game on my HP nx9420 which has a 1.66 Core duo Cpu and a x1600 ati 256mb/128bit gpu. And used the same settings and resolution, scores similarly as my clevo, sometimes better! unfreakingbelieveble. And the only real difference between these two notebooks is...well..the OS. Vista sax hard in the gta series.Sadly...No patch fixed that...I`m gonna try ther drivers tomorrow, reverting to 169.25 as those were the ones that seemed to give max performance overall(using crysis as a referrence)

Securom has a bit of problems with X64. World in Conflicts takes 45 second to identify the DVD and will even go as far as to tell me I'm not using a legit DVD to play sometimes.

Allright, update for San Andreas. NOW WORKING FLAWLESSLY with 169.12 (modded inf by me) at native WUXGA , very high at over 40 fps.Schweet :D Seems 169.28 had a terrible impact on the game, reduced performance by over 50%...this is as a FYI , DO NOT USE 169.28 WITH GTA 3 SAN ANDREAS...

As far as vice city goes...still will not load the savegame...
