I ran the game on windows 7 x64 at 1080, with all settings maxed and I also tried it with some settings on medium and HDR off and hardware skinning off. Although lower settings did help it still has an extremely inconsistent frame rate. In some areas its running at 60+ Fps and other areas in drops to the 20s and 30s. I find it hard to believe my hardware is incapable of running this old Unreal engine 3 game.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to improve fps without compromising visuals too much?
My specs:
Intel® Core i7 2630QM @ 2.5 ghz
GTX 460M 1.5 GB
8 GB DDR3 Ram
7200 RPM HDD
Windows 7 x64
Thanks!

vegas 1 is horribly optimized. that's why.

The funny thing is, the game basically has almost no visual quality gain when you go from low shadows to high shadows yet there is a big fps loss. Same goes for HDR which has almost no effect on visual quality. So I am pretty much happy with these settings and performance.

I hope you're running ThrottleStop to fix the silly throttling issue?
Every g-series SW notebook has it and Asus hasn't yet released a bios update and afaik never will.
Launch ThrottleStop once, turn it on then you can safely close it.
Notice that you need to do it each time you boot in windows.
Be sure also to have latest 285.79 betas. -

Vegas 1 runs horrible on my 6970m too but at least i can brute force through the game.
UbiSoft is the biggest port troll of them all. D; -
To be fair I can run other UBI ports fine on my system. Like assassin's creed 2.
