Wow, a full week in advance. At least they give a week instead of a day so their servers don't get slammed.

good catch, i think they should have pre-load soon as possible like as soon as you can preorder the game. But I guess I know one reason they may choose not to do that...

edit: omg check out some of this crazy stuff I found out about.

    Pre-loading now, at 40KB/s.

Why do Steam servers in Australia suck?

Because they are not thinking with portals.

A small taste of what is to come:

and first co-op video I have seen.

Portal 2 still uses the good ol' source engine.

That also means for me - Multi Monitor Support

Yes, but they have updated it very thoroughly. They added new features like Deferred Rendering, better shadows, MUCH HIGHER RESOLUTION textures, MORE High-res than Crysis 2...

    Good job Valve!

Awesome! That's a lot of involvement from a lot of games to do all this. Pretty wild. Maybe they'll announce Half-Life 3 with Portal 2! lol I can only wish.

And there is the minor chance it will be released early as well, makes me go back to the first thing you said "preload an entire week early" perhaps its not a week early at all....

I just sent my mic in for rma too :( may not be back in time even @ regular release date for the co-op event.

I can wing it with a spare mic but I prefer the top quality my good one gives me.

VALVe rarely release their games on weekends. They usually do on Tuesdays or Thursdays. I still have a feeling it'll come out next Tuesday as intended. But still preloading a week early is baffling. Maybe I can have a high hope like you guys :D

Lets hope it doesn't bug like BO did... All of us had it pre loaded, and it couldn't decrypt the files, we needed to DL the whole game again... ._.

BlOps downloaded fine for me. It downloaded about 70 MB after the preload.

3 GB's left on portal 2 for me.

I'm not talking about DL. I was talking about, after pre-loading, on release date, we couldn't decrypt the files. That's what I'm afraid of.

It's been a while since I've bought a new game (I think the last one was Alan Wake, actually ha) so I should probably pick this up. God knows my brain could use the workout.

My girlfriend and I got the two-pack a couple of weeks ago. Great deal for such a massive game (heard gameplay will be many times longer than the original). Now preloading @ 300kb/s... Looks like ~4 hours.

Already been done, AFAIA. It's on TPB if you are foolish enough to bother with it.

You know how I said I was getting 40KB/s on the Australian 3FL server? Well, switched to the Los Angeles content server, and BAM 700KB/s for the rest of the download.

Each campaign (co-op and singleplayer) are supposed to be twice as long as the original Portal.

So basically 4 hours for singleplayer, and 4 hours for the co-op campaign.

Ha, get over yourself. Portal is a game that requires one to use spatial reasoning, not lateral. It is, insofar as video games go, one that challenges the player from an intellectual standpoint rather than a kinetic one.

Of course, I suppose you could've been aiming that sarcastic volley at someone other than me. I can't for the life of me figure out who you're quoting as calling the game "difficult". I'd contemplate the problem further, but I've already exasperated myself so much just by trying to phrase my paragraphs tightly enough that they won't be uncoiled by someone like yourself, a person in possession of a frightening genius.

IT also appears more difficult, so It might take a bit longer than that. length of content does not equal length it takes to complete. Take Super Meat Boy for instance. it would probably take 15 minutes to run through all the levels, but because it's difficult, you can spend an hour on a single level that takes 12 seconds to finish.

Harder is good IMO, not so hard that you have to flay off the skin on your thumb like SMB but just hard on the brain trying to figure out what to do, that is the great thing portal can do most other games can not is challenge your intellect more so than your reflexes.

Sometimes my reasoning is great, but I just can't seem to reshoot a portal fast enough/react at the moment I come out the backend of a portal.

I wish the portals shot/materialized faster.

Agreed the length of the game is not long, but it is going to be long because it is hard, or it is "suppose" to be. I am sure that eventually it will fast to beat once you know what you are doing afterwards.
