So I've had my gaming laptop for some time now and I love it. I'm still yet to come across a game that I cannot play on max settings. Anyway, I'm planning on playing Star Wars the Old Republic when it comes out in a few weeks so I was looking at some possible upgrades. I have a G9 gaming mouse and some high end Sennheiser headphones. So here is my question. I'm not sure if anyone has done this yet. Then again, I'm sure someone has tried this.

I'm thinking of placing my gaming laptop into a docking station and getting a 40inch super widescreen monitor. I even came across a asus gaming 3d monitor that I might get two or three of if I attempt to go this route.

    Amazon.com: Acer GD235HZbid Widescreen 23.6" 3D LCD Display: Computers & Accessories

I'm still a little torn on why a person would game with three monitors, besides it looking cool, but that's another topic.

So anyway, has anyone tried this? How does a setup like this work with a docking station? Any of you doing this with multiple monitors?

Hmm... I have a somewhat similar set up. I use a 47" LG LED TV using the HDMI port in my laptop. Have to say I still would rather game on the laptop screen... for an MMO I don't know if a big monitor will really enhance the experience all that much. I tend to use the 47" more for videos.

Honestly I prefer the laptop screen, your closer to the action and smaller details can be noticed much faster. Big screen gaming is more for shooters and rpgs

Sitting so close to such a wide screen setup would give me vertigo unless the games supported like 120deg or more FOV. I get sick sitting in front of a large monitor with a narrow FOV usually. But 22-24" is a good size for a desktop setup if you sit about 3-4 feet back.
