Hello all. I have found this supplier online that could be a possible source for the ATI 4650 512mb DDR3 mxm 2 card!

    Go to this link: http://atecheu.trustpass.alibaba.co...4850_M98_M_VGA_Card_Module_Accept_Paypal.html

Then either choose to "contact now" or "chat on-line" I am currently online with the stocker who said the card isn't in stock but I reckon if a multitude of us bug him with requests for the card he will re-stock that card for our consumption :D

    Request away!!

p.s for anyone that doesn't know the ATI 4650 DDR3 card is the second most powerful mxm 2 card ever made so well worth all efforts to try and get it :)

If anyone can contribute to this thread by giving other mxm 2 card sources would be great!

Hmm, I'd love to get one of the HP Touchsmart 300z desktop all in ones. Only problem, is the 300z isn't available in the US with dedicated graphics, but because it IS available outside the US with dedicated graphics, it has an MXM 3.0 port (it would require a custom heat sink for connecting to the heat pipe though). Would be great to get one and put a Radeon 4670 in it.

Really!? I just inquired whether they will have the DDR3 4670 or 4650 and they replied saying they will have the DDR2 1GB 4650 by the end of the year but unlikely to ever stock the DDR3 46xx cards.

I guess we shall see...the elusiveness of these ddr3 cards is starting to get on my nerves! Why won't people sell us the darn things, we want em don't we!

The DDR2 4650 is alright performing on par with the DDR3 9600M GT but when you OC both suckers to the max the 9600M GT will own the DDR2 part. I'am pretty sure a decent OCing 8600MGT DDR3 part would be able to score around 6000k which is close to what the DDR2 4650 can achieve at max. Pretty pathetic considering I know someone on here with a 9600M DDR3 clocked at 650/1700/950 gets 6800 points!.

What is more profitable for the companies? you buying a new mxm card or you buying a new notebook because you can't upgrade? ... mxm as been around since 2001. it's always the same story. anyway the source from the other thread is the best one to get a card. so good luck

    MXM IS the standard...
the problem is that some manufacturers don't want you to upgrade so they make sure you can't do it.
and for those that can, it's hard to find where to buy a card.
that's why going directly to the manufacturer is the best option. since the ODM won't offer that option.

FYI OS-Store has started selling GDDR3 HD4650s on eBay! On AliBaba, they now also list HD4670, so it is probably the next.

The price is a bit steep, though ($299+shipping).
