I got a sony vaio ux and i'm stuck with a gma 950, since there are no mini pci-e video cards, i was wondering is it possible to remove the gma 950 and add another gma chipset maybe a gma 3000 for better performance, keeping voltages in mind off course.

I can't say that I've heard of that being done before. Sounds kinda risky. If you don't increasing performance at the cost of portability, you should check out the DIY ViDock thread.

No, GMA950 will not be pin-compatible with any other chipset.

Nothing's "impossible"....
Please post a youtube video of your attempt... -
Ahaha, someone wants to see fireworks lol.

It's not even worth trying.

In complete agreement.
You know the saying, "nothing beats a failure like a try?" Yeah, well, in this case it's, "Not trumps a failure like an epic failure."

I dont understand the logic in thinking that such a thing is even possible, even if you manage to messup the pins in order to force it in, when you boot there will be a power problem internally. The 3K was not made to be interchangeable with a gma950, but go ahead and prove me wrong if you want.

you should solder a gma 3000 on top of gma 950 so you could play while you play

I love how you guys sound provoking, the guy hasn't even replied and probably never will after all the flaming lol.
However what you can do is desolder the GMA950 and solder a QX9300, you'll now have a dual CPU board.
EDIT: though it might be important to mention to OP that (I'm joking btw) -

no good w/o xzibit photochop image to make point. -
I say if hes got the technical profieciency, why not try? I would probably advise against it if it's your main computer OP

I admit that with technical proficiency, you may be able to remove the 950 from the motherboard.
Of course, that would leave you with a non-functional motherboard. You wouldn't be able to replace it with a different chip.
Possible to desolder gma950
