Will I need to overclock it? Or will it be fine? My specs are in my sig. I want to be able to play Oblivion, FEAR, COD2, Quake 4, and some of those other games, will this be possible?

    since, no one replied

    here goes

the x1400 will be able to play those games but at med settings or low-med in the case of oblivion.

it will be fine as long as you don't set your expectations too high.

It is possible to overclock the x1400 using att (ati tray tools) which i recommend you use as well as installing omega driver (check the guide on how to reinstall video driver)

i play oblivion with 100% view distance and most stuff on med and large textures and trees and grass to 50% and it gives me ~20-35 fps outside

fear i get 40-50 with med and some high settings with shadows off

don't have CoD2 or quake 4 but i imagine the x1400 will be able to play those at a playable fps

oh yea, in your sig, it's x1400 with hypermemory, not hyper force

Yeah, hmmmmm is pretty much spot on, though I use the Omega 6.7s. Found the latest Omega's to be somewhat unstable in source games and Silent Hunter 3 had rendering issues.

So which drivers are better to use the Omega or the catalyst (sp)??

I'm currently running the Catalyst 6.10 version. It seems very stable, and HL2 doesn't crash anymore.

I run Far Cry and Half Life 2 at full 1680 x 1050 resolution with settings on Full with no problems...Cat 6.9...on my Dell E1505

    Quickie question...any advantage of 6.10 over 6.9?????
