I got the Toshiba Toshiba Satellite S875D-S7239 with the AMD Quad-Core A10-4600M. I ordered 8Gb of memory to get this thing up to 12Gb. I got a Coolermaster x2 gaming cooling pad. Besides that what can I do to upgrade this thing to make it more beasty?

I'm not looking to upgrade the hard drive to SSD or anything of that nature. Any simple clocks I can do? I played diablo 3 lastnight on this and it wasn't to bad, definitely could use a boost though

you can install new drivers, otherwise there is nothing much to do, the clocks and timings of the ram will make a difference

More memory won't aid in gaming performance, you are already handcuffed with the 7660G IGP. I bought a barebones Clevo for 450, added an SSD and RAM and it outperforms the Trinity APU (720QM, 280M) on top of a 1080p screen in 15.6" platform.

Really? Are you sure hte 645M is twice the power of the 7660G? Last I read, Sony's PS4 development kit they sent to developers uses a AMD Trinity. Can't be that bad, if it can run next gen console games at 1080p

you are comparing an integrated gpu performance to the 645m? it does not compute

Instead of getting more RAM, try to get faster RAM. The IGP needs all the memory bandwidth it can get.

ya I paid $645. The MSI model looks like a fine laptop, but didn't want 15 inch screen , had a 15 inch, tired of squinting to it. Didn't want windows 8 either. I had to get a windows 7 machine.

there's always the hope that AMD will release unlocked A10 version APU, just like there's A8-3510MX/3530MX/3550MX, so you could upgrade later.

besides that, lower timing of the RAM used is all you can do these days.

He's just comparing costs. For similar costs you can get a machine with twice the GPU performance. Now of course we all know it comes down to a combination of size, weight, heat, noise, cost, etc. But I have to agree. For $650 there's many other better options out there.

no way man. I looked at laptops for two months straight. To get anything with real power looking at $1100 on up. MSI, ASUS, etc etc gaming laptops.

Yeah, gaming laptops are expensive, but there are still more powerful options out there for the price.

Eh, whatever. A10 benchmarks I see seem fine to me for mobile gaming. And again, pretty sure the next gen consoles are going to be about on par with the A10 Trinity. So can't be that bad. It will be good enough to run DX11 features at 1080p with UE4.

Not likely, and even so it will be CPU performance not the IGPU performance. Still, nothing concrete for next gen consoles yet anyhow.

What does this even mean? I mean, I guess it's fine for a GT 630M setup. But standards have to be extremely low to accept the way the A10 holds back the more powerful GPUs.
