I was checking my laptop power consumption on full load lately and I found that it ranges between 65-72 watts while my AC adapter is only 65 W

I always had a problem OCing my GPU and keeping it stable beyond (720/720/840) while others with the same GPU could go WAY further so my question is ..... if I buy a 90 W Adapter will give me more room for overclocking or is it useless ?

getting higher o/c's that other users are getting can be due to different factors.
i think the first thing you have to determine is whether your gpu is overheating when going beyond 720. if it is then you will have to address the heating issue first by getting a cooler, undervolting your cpu, switching to ssd etc.
assuming your temps are ok, other users may be going 720 by overvolting their gpu's. my gpu for example is only stable upto 620 from a stock clock of 583. if i wanted more performance out of it i have to perform a gpu bios overvolt for stabler performance beyond 620.
however it does seem that your power brick is already maxed out. i believe that swithcing to a 90watt psu will help and may allow you to gpu overvolt and gain more oc headroom. i also plan to get a bigger power unit myself that will allow me to o/c both my gpu and my (future) cpu.
i am however unfamiliar with ati and your acer model but whta i mentioned should hold true though. if you want to make certain then you could ask in acer subforum on this.
    cheers and goodluck

Thanks for the reply mate .... I asked this question because the weird thing is that all of the guys I asked have their GPU on 1.2v & mine aint overheating (hitting 85 max) but thats the same temps I get on normal clocks too so overclocking aint really giving it that much heat ..... I have no idea why Acer send a 65 W adapter with a laptop reaching up to 72 Watts undervolted

Because they are cheap and cut corners. The same reason they sold me a netbook that failed twice in the first year of usage.
