    Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 with a 128MB ATi X300 Mobility Radeon video card. The powerplay feature doesn't seem to be working right. If I unplug the AC, it doesn't go to the powerplay mode until after restart and vice versa. It used to work before, that right when I unplugged it it would switch to powerplay mode, and when I plugged it in, it switched to performance mode.

Now under the PowerPlay section it shows the source as high battery if you started the computer on battery even if you have since plugged it in and as AC if you started the computer on AC but have disconnected the AC now and it should be running in powerplay mode.

I have gone through of series of trials with ATi omega drivers, and with the standar Dell ATi catalyst drivers, using Driver Cleaner Pro in between all driver changes but I just can't get it to work right. Help!

Also, sometimes when I startup I have a strange slowdown for a few minutes, which I can easily detect if i try to type anything or move around the start menu with the arrow keys...

Interesting scenario . . I would try going into the Control Panel, then Power Options, put it on "Portable/Laptop", see if that helps.

Did you mean that you went into the PowerPlay settings and changed the settings? You can go in there and tell it what type of setting to be on, depending on your battery power.

No I guess I didn't phrase myself correctly. Basically I shouldnt' have to change any settings. It's set to performance mode when plugged in and max battery mode mode when on batteries. However it doesn't correctly detect if it's plugged in or on batteries. So if I boot up on AC, it'll think it's on AC even if I disconnect the AC, until I reboot off of the battery. Only then will it go into max battery mode.
