hi guys!!!! on my 185.81 forceware for my gefroce 9600m the powermizer switch don't function properly!!! why?? the registry is not the same as the old froceware??
-
-
Can you please upload the 'nv_disp.inf' file from the driver package you downloaded? I'll take a look.
-
Update:
Due to the lack of registry settings for PowerMizer in the new Forceware versions, PowerMizer Switch v1.2 offers you to create the necessary entries automatically.
The download link has not changed. -
Thanks,
I have tested and it works. I'm currently using Windows 7 and Forceware 186.03 -
Link does not work I keep getting "unable to connect"
-
Would this work on ati gpus?
-
So will somebody upload to rapid-share or if it will fit in an attachment plz
-
NVM... My ip must have been banned from box.net for some reason... used a proxy and got right in
Edit: It is not working for me. Driver version... 186.03 (downloaded from nvidia site). Computer spec in sig.
Sorry should have edited my last post and didn't. -
In case the problem is still up-to date, please describe what is not working exactly.
-
I've been looking for something like this for a long time!
9600m gt w/ forceware 190.38 beta
Windows 7 7600 x64 build 16385, confirmed working!! -
Nice to hear that!
The app is still working without problems with the new driver versions ;-) -
Its not working for me .....
WHY !!!
SLI 9800m GT driver : 186.24 WHQL from nvidia site
update : if i turn powermizer off with the app and browse the registry for "PerfLevelSrc" it is changed to 2222 in 6 keys, but in one key it stays 3322 -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000\PerfLevelSrc
could this be the culprit?? -
A few more infos about what is not working and how it is not working would be useful.
-
Whatever i do , powermizer stays off on AC and enabled on Battery
Update : the key changed to 2222 after reboot, but still no luck on disabeling powermizer (When i pull the AC cord GPU-Z shows the drop in clock speed, launching a game doesn't help getting them up)
Update2 : If i turn powermizer on for battery and AC, It DOES work and downclocks the card on AC, enabling powermizer on Battery and not on AC, works as well, so what doesnt work is "Disabeling powermizer on Battery"
Maybe its just not possible with a Dual high end graphics set :s -
Nice to have it working on AC now though, keeps the laptop cooler, will it affect my gaming experience on AC?, or does it go to the highest clock when you start gaming? (unable to test now, as i am in a classroom, haha)
-
Pardon me, but I thought Powermizer was included in Nvidia's new drivers?
-
It was disabled on AC and enabled on battery by default on my system using a unmodified WHQL driver.
By the way , I am running Windows 7 entrprise 64 bit, maybe that has something to do with it? -
PowerMizer is indeed included in Nvidia's new drivers and it is enabled by default on AC and on battery.
The intention I created my tool with, was to give people an option to disable PowerMizer on AC and/or on battery.
That way some frame dropdowns can be avoided.
Unfortunately I haven't got a laptop with 2 video cards .., so I can't test the Switch on it.
You say you got 6 keys named "PerfLevelSrc" ? -
I see, I see, it's a great little tool so many congrats
-
-
Well, maybe this is normal with SLI, I don't know..
You could try reinstalling your video driver or using another - possibly newer - driver from laptopvideo2go.com .
I can also recommend Driver Sweeper to remove the driver remains. -
I might try that, but i'm not so keen on using the new 190 series driver
It seems they have performance issues .. -
Write about your results, please. Can you also check which registry keys belong to which video card? I might try to adjust the switch.
-
Hi, I love this application. Finally, after 2 and half years I have my 8600 GT with PowerMizer ON!
(I don't why was OFF all the time...)
Could you supply the registry entries modifications behind all combinations of ON and OFF states for PowerMizer in Win7 x64?
Thank you very much!
[[]] -
Check my first post in this thread, you can find all the registry modifications there. They are all the same for all Windows versions.
Old drivers from Nvidia do not contain PowerMizer, maybe you should simply do a driver update (check laptopvideo2go.com in case you don't know where to look for :- ). -
xsmile would you know if its possible to make powermizer ignore proccesses like dwm?
-
Well my friends complain about there G51vx performance on battery power and they arnt ~"tech Savvy" dont even know how to overclock or even mount an iso.Even worse i have to configure there games because they dont understand AA and such well back to Powermizer its great thanks now they can leave my mind at peace so they dont try and clock there underclocked GTX260m to something along the range of "burnt out". Thanks

Hello, I'm new to this forum and I want to purchase the ASUS G60VX with the "white lid", I only saw the blue version at Best Buy. Is there any other retailers that sell the G60VX? Thanks
-
Nice utility, but it only works for the first one of my Alienware M17x' two GTX280Ms for whatever reason. In Windows 7 64 bit with Powermizer Switch 1.2, that is.
-
Can you please upload a registry backup of this key? (In case you know of any other keys related to this issue, add them too)
Code:\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video

Does this enable powermizer when running off an external (with the built in disabled.)
-
Hm, the new official 195.62 WHQL notebook drivers no longer seem to have the powermizer settings in the registry, but the video cards still seem to downclock.

You need to monitor the card speeds while in a game or something. -
Alexrose1uk Music, Media, Game
PerfLevelSrc 2222
PowerMizerEnable 0
PowerMizerLevel 1
PowerMizerLevelAC 1
As I recall -
The Switch has an option to add these keys automatically, in case they are not found. PowerMizer will be disabled if you choose this option. I'm using v195.62 myself. The Flash enhancement is nice btw.
Unfortunately I didn't find anything concerning the SLI problem yet. -
Some people seem to be abit confussed..
1 any driver can be downloaded, it doesnt matter, you can input them manually and get powermizer switch to work
2 Windows 7 32 bit or 64 bit OS, the powermizer switch will not work until you input them manually because they are simply not in the registry
Heres a quick guide how to solve all your problems
1 Press the windows key and R key on the keyboard
2 This will bring up the run window
3 Type regedit and click ok
4 This will open the registry editor
5 Click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
6 Then click the following, SYSTEM,currentcontrolset, control,Video
7 You will see lots of numbers, open each one up and click the 0000, your looking for the one thats shows a massive list on the right, this is where we need to input the data
8 When you have found the right one, right click and new tab will come up, click new
9 Input PerfLevelSrc as the name now repeat the above for the following..
PowerMizerEnable
PowerMizerLevel
PowerMizerLevelAC
10 In the list you should now have this...
PerfLevelSrc
PowerMizerEnable
PowerMizerLevel
PowerMizerLevelAC
11 Right click PerfLevelScr and press modify, then input 3333 as the value
12 For PowerMizerEnable, PowerMizerLevel, PowerMizerLevelAC the value should be 0, you can check this by right clicking on them and pressing modify, they should already be at 0, if not change them to 0
13 Now close it down (top corner x) and reboot
14 Now when you download powermizer switch it will work with windows 7 and any nvidia driver
Enjoy -
This is a big help on the M17x with its DPC latency issues. Thanks!

Yep, in Win7, unless the driver is broken, Powermizer works regardless of whether these entries are made using default settings built into the drivers, the only reason to create the entries is to actually DISABLE powermizer.
-
-
Ok, no offense to Mr. Rubinov, but Powermizer Switch isn't really needed unless to wish to disable/enable Powermizer with a simple click and reboot. The downside of disabling Powermizer is no GPU freq reduction at idle (not playing games) resulting in unnecessary increased current draw, temp and fan runtime.. Solution: Simply use Nvidia System Tools and set up a profile to load when GPU temp rises above a certain degree C. Mine is set to load an overclock profile when temp is above 58 C.... cheers!
-
although powermizer switch is nice for adding back the missing regentries in Win7. -
Ok, here's the problem with Powermizer and Nvidia System Tools... it all sucks and here's why. You have no control over what Powermizer determines requires full power. For example, games are usually not an issue but videos running In a browser (e.g. flash plugin) are DEFINITELY an issue! The result is jerky frame rate and sync. Trying to setup any profiles in System Tools while Powermizer is enabled is just a waste of time. If Powermizer is turned off, you get high idle temps that cause increased fan runtime. It's a "no win" situation.
-
Does this work with ATI cards?
Im pretty sure it doesnt, but just makin sure.
-
Ok, I've got it figured out...do not use Powermizer Switch. Instead, open Nvidia Control Panel...
Click on "Manage 3D Settings" and click on "Power Management Mode" in "Global Settings" tab.
Choose either "Adaptive" (Powermizer On) or "Prefer Maximum Performance" (Powermizer Off) and apply.
I chose "Adaptive" to maintain low GPU temps while idle. Now, to control which application gets adaptive or full power, click on "Program Settings". Here you can select the application and change it's "power management mode" settings... simple? -
Meh.. I still prefer my method.. I made the 2D clocks be 200/400/200 which is enough to make it stay cool plus enough to play videos and all non-3d stuff.. Its only wheres theres 3d that the clock rises.

Unfortunately setting maximum performance does NOT reliably work on SLI, only one card stops. Bit of a half-***** feature in that sense.
Powermizer Switch - get the most out of your video card
