I've been trying to figure out what's causing performance spikes on my 1500 for the past 2 days, and I believe it has to do with the powermizer feature of the Nvidia 8400 GS. People have fixed their issues by turning it off, but I'm unable to find it in nvidia control panel. Am I missing something?

Oh how convenient for us. Nvidia loves you. But ummm... I installed the 156.10's, which I believe do NOT have powermizer, and the problem completely disappeared. It wasn't just sound issues, it was spikes that caused the OS to do odd things. My mouse pointer would skip 5 inches sometimes. I thought it was the touchpad driver. Nope... it's all powermizer.

Seriously, powermizer should get it's own sticky. And you probably can disable it through some registry entries in Vista. Seems the newer dirvers all have it on. I had the 169's previously.

If you have modded drivers , some of them do not have powermizer, since the drivers come from desktop cards, which do not require it.
    I think 169.25 , .44 , 174.16 and 174.82 have it. Try those.
