Pre-order L4D2, get a TF2 hat!

If you pre-order Left 4 Dead 2, you get an exclusive hat in Team Fortress 2, namely Bill's beret from the original Left 4 Dead. It's equippable on all classes, too (I think it looks best on the Soldier, Medic, and Demoman ).

 

is this a good deal for tf2 players or l4d2 players?

this is a good deal for someone who enjoys both games.
makes more sense to get a hat for l4d2 instead.

Yeah, it's obviously targeted at fans of both games, but it's good encouragement for TF2 players to check out Left 4 Dead 2, because people will literally do anything for hats.

Bah, it's not like Valve is the only company to offer extras for pre-ordering their games. Call of Duty World at War, for instance; pre-order customers got level 1 access to the M1 Carbine, usually the highest level rifle unlock in the game.

I don't think "bribery" is the right word; I would call it incentive.

 

I call getting an unlock early incentive, I call giving an exclusive dinky hat to a totally different game bribery (or alternatively desperation)

Atleast I entered the thread thinking there maybe a semi cool or even semi lame real life hat involved, when I saw it was a TF2 digital pixels on your head hat I just took part of how low I think of L4D2 and made it lower.

 

Not like Valve didn't have enough incentive for pre-ordering already...it's $5 cheaper, and you get a week early access to the demo, and an exclusive in-game baseball bat. The hat for TF2 is just a nice extra, I think.

 

I don't think it will make or break anyone's decision to pre order. The only reason I am pre ordering is because it's slightly cheaper, and I know I will end up buying it at some point.
