Update your drivers.
Personally I suggest using the latest Nvidia Drivers, the latest possible because with each driver released performance and issues are resolved in Vista.

Let's try something else since the driver update didn't do anything for you.
Try disabling the Aero graphics interface in Vista and see if that helps.
Second - get the latest patches for both games and see if that changes anything.
Are those the only two games you have? Try installing a third if possible and see if you still get crashing issues. If yes, then we can conclude that there is an issue with your computer and it's not just the game(s). -
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
Both of those games run off of the doom 3 engine, so to me it seems like a conflict either with the hardware or the drivers, try a D3D based game, if you dont have one download a demo such as FEAR and see how that works.

I had the same issue with my laptop, but I have an X1600. It crashes because there's no OpenGL drivers. Updating OpenGL and/or getting the latest Nvidia drivers should fix the issue.
O..... K...
It seems as though Nvidia doesn't support the GO 7900 under vista! Only the WinXP and Linux drivers are there, no Vista!! -

WELL I THINK YOUR ARE RIGHT, I CAN PLAY ALL OTHER GAMES LIKE FE.A.R, SPLINTER CELL DOUBLE AGENT, LOST PLANET DEMO.....
WHAT HAPPENS IS THAT--AFTER PREY CRAHSES TO DESKPTOP..IT STATES THAT CURRENT VIDEO CARD/ DRIVER COMBINATION DOEST NOT HAVE THE REQUIRED FEATURE( soemthing like that)....and under it theres a small window on which its written CLOSING OPENGL files......
so may be its Vista..but i will apply the necessary patches and then try again... -

About Quake 4 it simply use to crash to desktop without any error message...Same goes Need for Speed Carbon....but finally Carbon worked only when i applied the setting run in WIN98/ME SETTING....
SO I WILL TRY THAT WITH QUAKE 4....IF IT WORKS;;I WILL LET U KNOW GUYS...THANKS FOR UR HELP....I APPRECIATE IT!!!! -

One more thing guys..since your are more experienced then me...
Should i use the DEll driverr for geforce 7900 GS..or laptopvideo2go ones...
Dell has the old ones dating January, 2007......while the laptopvideo2go has the newest ones...
i only know these two sites...
if there are more sites who offer better drivers of their own..kindly let me know!!!!! Thank You. -
try the Dell drivers. If they work, run with it. If not, then try the laptopvideo2go drivers.
Prey and Quake 4 errors!!!!
