I was just having a look at my games list after buying afew more games yesterday and it dawned on my how cheap games are for me to buy in India, ive been studying here.
I brought my first two pc games in a long time while i was in america at xmas, i got oblivion goty and CoH gold total price $56.
Since arriving back in India for studies ive brought over 20 games and the most ive had to pay has been 999rps ($20 us) yesterday i picked up assassins creed directors edition, titan quest gold and CoH tales of valor for a combined total of 1400rps...thats less than $30,
They are genuine games with keys but often they dont come with booklets instead offering it in pdf format an if there is a booklet it is black and white, but still these are great prices and it made me think how much money they are making of countries like the US.
If your not in the states whats the average price you get charged for a pc game?

new releases are normally 50 bucks in toronto
-
New releases here in Australia normally cost $90AUD (which is about $75USD) from eb games, which is already freakin expensive,
and then the collectors edition cost $10AUD more... which makes it cost like $84USD for just 1 game...
-
here in singapore should be around S$30 - S$70 (accordingly to new released games) which is bit high (apprx. US$20 US$46) and normally you have to wait for the games to be available (like after US release 2 -3 weeks, and S$70 for blockbuster like GTA, Crys!s, etc.).
@maksin01: heck! that's ridiculous price, I'm of to Australia soon but with that price I would just stick with my collection for 1 last year of college LOL. -
In the US new games are generally $50, but often come down to $40 pretty soon. After a while they usually level off at $20 or $30, depending on on the game. If you wait long enough you can get the gold-pack or whatever they happen to be calling the version that includes expansions/extras for $30-$50

Whow thats some serious cash, echineon thats the one problem with buying games here in india, some games come out much later than release dates in other countries and some games dont even make it here at all, ie Fallout3!
Maksin03 im heading back home to NZ next year and if thats how much they cost in aussie you can bet they will cost more in NZ, im definately stocking up before my trip. -
Yea it's ridiculous...>_<
Games in NZ cost even more than Aus? Damn...>_< Yea I guess you better stock up then.
-
no wonder they are so cheap in india. if they have a pdf manual or a manual in black and white they are pirated copies.
-
No they are not piratied copies mate, they are genuine, with legitimate keys, all the extra stuff like web site keys, discounted game ads etc are encluded, on the box it says only to be sold in india, they have importers info and everything. I was reading the reason they do it this way is to keep costs down to encourage buying of the games. All my steam games work perfectly and so do all the other games that require online activation. And ive entered afew multiplayer rooms, but my connection isnt good enough to play.
-
UK here and tbh its not that bad, going back to your 2 bought games i can get Oblivion GOTY edition for £11.99 so what $16-17? and COH Gold for £9.99 so $15? the industry is on about upping prices here though to £55 for a new launch title.
-
heres an image of my games collection (sorry photo was taken with phone camera and isnt very good)
out of the games there four where brought out of india, CoH gold, Oblivion goty, sacred2 fallen angel and the last Remnant, you will notice the boxes are nearly the same in every way, the difference as stated is whats inside, out of the 20 odd games brought in india only half had booklets and of the half that had booklets only four where in colour.
but also as stated the keys are either on the cd cover or the booklets and every one works perfectly, weather using steam, online verification, multiplayer etc.
and just to clarify pirated pc games in india are between 199-399rps for new releases. -
Last time I bought a game, heck, even a DVD/Blu-Ray in a retail store was at least 3-4 years ago. I get everything online now, usually through Amazon. They tend to have the best prices plus free shipping on anything over 25 bucks. Luckily the Amazon shipping warehouse for media/games is the next state over and I get stuff within a few days with the free super saver shipping.
-
Just the standard $50 in the US here.
-
new games are all 50 dollars. however, when i buy em they have usually dropped to 20 - 30. (i try to get games about a year after they are released....stupid cod4 is still at 40 :/)
-
you should see htwingnuts game list in his sig, that is insane
-
I am in canada, province of quebec, and usually when a gae comes out, it's priced 59.99$. Some of them (the most expected one, such as RE5) are even up to 69.99$ (taxes aren't included yet). That sucks XD
-
I have seen his list and its mindblowing, really impressive.
i wasnt trying to brag its just that someone thought the games i was buying where pirated, so i wanted to show them that they wernt, i guess snowing a bunch of game boxes doesnt prove it but im nearly positive they are genuine, just made on a lesser budget to appeal to the indian market.
Yeap it does, but i suppose if we think of it from a business point of view it makes perfect sense...watch CoD4 drop once MW2 is released

masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
in the US,
new PC games are usually $50.
new console games run at $60. -
Living in Canada, prices of relatively new PC games averages around $60 to $70 CDN, which is roughly around $55 to $65 USD - ish. There are times where prices are so inflated around here, it's cheaper to simply order a PC game through some online vendor.
-
What? You usre? They raised price this winter. Here in Quebec it's $60 for PC & Wii, $70 for PS3/360
When the Canadian dollar went at 9/10 and more of the USD, it took them 6-7 months to adjust game prices but when it dropped under 9/10 this fall, it took them less than a month.
For console prices, the Wii has always been $270 rather than $250. The DSi is $200 rather than $170 (PC?). Microsoft was kind enough the have the X360's console price the same as in the US. Sony not only kept the console price, but also the accessories' prices.
I think Sony's the most right in this one, not because it cost less for us but because our damn salaries don't fluctuate like the dollar. -
I have no idea since i download everything. lol
-
In Amazon you find always the price cheaper so that's where I get my stuff.
-
Here in Sweden a new game cost around $65 and after a few months the price usually drops to about $35. Older games cost around $20.
