So I was talking to 5150Joker, and he recommended getting a new graphics card (honest to god can't remember which one).
However I currently have a 260M in my Alienware which I want to sell on ebay to get a better one since they are replaceable in Alienware laptops.

I bought it late December, so how much do you think should be the sell value of it?

Don't waste your money or time, I don't believe you can upgrade further( maybe?) and the amount of money to upgrade to a 280m GTX compared to the return in performance you receive is not worth it, will not be a lot more powerful.

    I lol @ that. I don't want an Asus.
Even though it looks speedy. Its upgradeable. I'll stick with it.

Have you considered a desktop video card? Eg: US$370 HD5830 DIY ViDock (when HD5830 is released next month). I believe your system has pcie-2.0 so it is believed should run at x1 2.0 speed, considerably faster than a GTX280M.

warning... DIY Vidock is not portable and needs external monitor... u might be able to get a ATI mobile 5870 MXM3.0B card in March so its worth trying out that instead...

None of these guys know what they're talking about Jubbing. That's why you should have just PM'd me or asked in the Alienware forum. ;) The card I recommended is the ATi 5870m and it will be out in about 2 weeks. You can purchase it from www.rjtech.com. You will need to wait until Dell issues a bios upgrade for the M15x before upgrading though. The M15x lineup should get the upgrade by mid march to early april so once it does, you will have to upgrade the bios and then get the newer card if you need it. As for the guy that recommended the G73, who would want that plastic overheating junk over an M15x? lol!

Umm what? Don't know what theyre talking about eh? That is going to be a ridiculously expensive upgrade for a marginal performance increase. A real waste IMHO. Not to mention Jubbing doesn't sound like the most apt person to perform an MXM (or whatever proprietary bull$hit Alienware uses) upgrade.

Because Alienware in general is so much better right? lol @ you, sucker. Undervolt the GPU and CPU in that Asus and you will have a more power and cooler laptop than an M15x for half the price, featuring a board made by the manufacturer (who isn't Dell, thank god). Alienware fanboys honestly make me laugh so hard. They're the same people who go to the supermarket and by all the name brand items for 3 times the price of the no name stuff (even though the same food companies make both).

If people are going to pay outragous prices, at least by a Sager/Clevo.

Asus G73 runs very cool... Nothing like the Asus G50 series...and i'm quite sure i'd get the Asus G73 anytime over the overpriced junk heap of an M15x...

Certainly sounds cooler than paying $4000 for a decently spec'd Alienware.

And if you buy an overpriced Alienware just to sound "cool", I don't believe you deserve to be a registered member of this forum.

    That is all.

    This post is pure win.

You are simply paying more for less vs. paying less for more, i don't get the logic.

Thank you people, I was just posting what I thought was right. :)

I think RJTech is pretty good when it comes to getting GPU's for Clevo laptops, they should have a GTX 285M there. ;)
