Why is the PC version of Modern Warfare 2 at $60? I've looked at Bestbuy, Walmart, target, gamestop, and other vendors, and they're listing it for $60.

Any reasons why we have to pay $10 extra now? -_-

Just buy a used copy, Activision won't get a dime, you still get to play the game. Win-Win.

Actually, I could care less about dedicated servers, but I knew it would be brought up, so I just got it out of the way.

I don't agree with the $60 price tag either. I'll wait it out. I'll fork over $40, but preferably less. I plan on playing single player only.

It's almost like they're ruining the game for the PC market on purpose. I wasn't intending to buy this game to begin with (specially since I started hating CoD4), but I'm supprised to see others are starting to get turned off just as well.

The actual reason is because of a decision by Activision's CEO. Basically, he wants to milk gamers of as much money he possibly can, and his excuse for the pricing hike is because it's worth that much, and he would charge several hundreds of dollars for the game if he could get away with it. It's VERY possible that the game may actually raise in price later on, and/or future games being priced far more.

Interviews with guy, read both, and you'll get the idea why a lot of people hate this guy. And are boycotting Activision as a whole, not just this one game.

I bought COD:MW a year after it came out at Best Buy for $59.99. I was hoping MW2 would be like $49.99 >.< (oh well I'm not sure if I like the whole IWnet thing at the moment).

Wow read those articles...CEO's like that either last a real short time or real long time, and I don't think that guys going to last very long ;) On a side note I won't be buying Activision from now on, thanks for the info.

We are getting shafted because IW/Acti-Blizz decided that they could charge $60 for all versions of the game regardless since they are all effectively the same. In other words, we PC gamers are getting a crappy console port and paying $10 more!

No dedicated servers = No buy. Screw IW and screw Bobby Kodick.

It's not worth the price. I'm just going to wait for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - £26.99 at Amazon.co.uk.

The extra $10 is for them to add all the stupid restrictions that make it more like a console game.

Part of it is because they are not using any 3rd party dedicated servers. They need their own servers now to route all the players to games. Plus, I'm sure Steam charges them for allowing people to save their upgrades/unlocks/achieves on the Steam system.

An extra $10 makes sense to me...

    This guy bought the game.

If you didn't complain about the price of Guitar Hero I'm hoping you're staying shut on Modern Warfare 2's price.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if the $10 console fee Microsoft / Sony charge for game sales was going straight to Valve's pocket per PC sale...

Modern Warfare 2 is using a good bit of valve tech... VAC, steam cloud... I wonder if Valve is getting that $10?

    Lol.
So much for valve tech. Have you seen the threads on all the hackers polluting MW2? On top of that theres already a crack out that lets pirated versions play on MP.
Thank god i only borrowed this from a friend and didn't actually buy it.

Same and i got month left to enjoy it until my friend gets back from college and i wont buy it until there is dedicated servers in MW2

What was IW thinking there are more hackers and the numbers are increasing every day and they really thought that VAC was going to take care of them

The Pc version is nothing but a lazy port in my opinion but the single player was still good though
