I'm thinking about getting it, now that I've completed WW to 100% Just yesterday. Or actually, today, because the final bout with the Dahaka ended a few minutes past midnight.
-
oo...haha...coool!!!
-
Yeah, well now I'm thinking about postponing this game, because it's protected by Starforce. I don't want to disable my virtual drives, thank you very much.
-
what's starforce??...oo...and u could use sr.7 stop to make it hidden from any protection of virtual drives 2..u know
-
Well first of all, i hope your not talking about disableing your virtual drives because you dont own the actual game, because if you did, virtual drives dont matter with starforce. Besides you can mount an image into a virtual drive and it will work, but thats besides the point. Starforce can be read about by just googleing it. I have played games that use starforce protection, and there are ways to get around it, but i will not tell you. It is by far the best protection out there and dont expect there to be an easy way around it (NO-CD) any time soon.

It's also a buggy piece of malware that's getting many legit buyers worldwide pissed off as hell.
-
very true, it does make many legit buyers pissed, but that also means it is doing its job. I think its a bad way of doing things, but it is definitely doing its job if it is that hard to crack.
-
You said it yourself, there are ways around them, and I know these ways too. We will not share them here from obvious reasons, but you and I know that everyone who wants to download and play these games illegally, does so. It requires more hassle than the regular "protections", and it may be annoying for them, but it doesn't prevent them from pirating these games.
I'm pissed off, because I'm a lazyness freak. I once spent a whole day searching the net and doing some Hex-editing on my own behalf to design a No-CD crack for a game I bought and owned perfectly legally, just so that I don't have to play with the CD inside. I defrag and run virus scans like twice a year, because I'm lazy. I also don't like crapware on my comp, that's why I don't even want to install Starforce-protected games.
But not all are like me. Some people don't care about this and they'll buy the game. And yet some will download it, read the instructions on how to bypass Starforce and play. So Starforce doesn't really do what it's supposed to, because it doesn't prevent piracy. One may argue that it reduces it, but I'm not even sure of that.
All this can lead to a bigger discussion, whether it's inherently impossible to make a copy protection that will be really good and yet will not severely hinder usability (Sony's latest DRM comes to mind - it caused an outcry too). But I'm not in a mood to discuss it right now... -
There is also a utility that removes the starforce drivers available, so after you are through playing the game, you can uninstall it. I dont like the crap that is with starforce, but i guess it is just the price some of us have to pay if we want to play certain games.

BTW, I just bought this game....and it is awesome. New moves and combos as well as a few more tricks to keep the game interresting!!!
