    Hi friends

I recently purchased Dell Inspiron 1520. It was working fine and i was playing most of the games like gears of war,nfs most wanted moto gp 3 etc. but since last week in all the games graphics is corrupted.
I upgraded the nvidia driver from dell website but continue facing same problem.
They are saying that format your system and reinstall the driver but i think it is a problem with graphics card itself. Can you please take a look at attachment and tell what may be the problem.

Thanks in advance for your help

Reformat like they said so you can rule out any software problems.

Yup, what Lithus said. Reformat and install all the stock drivers, if that problem persists, it must be hardware.

Also have you just tried uninstalling the current driver, do you still get those squares without any nvidia drivers installed?

if you totaly uninstall the drivers games wont run anyway proeprly

    follow these steps...

    1 uninstall the drivers
1 run drver cleaner and remove nvidia
3 check in device manager and it shold list your graphics controller as standard vga controller

    then restart

then restart in to safe mode, run driver cleaner, and all and any system cleaners and registry cleaners etc that you have, just to be on the dafe side ad give everythign a clean

then follow the have disk method using a laptopvideo to go driver

and just see if that works

So what's the result here? Doesn't sound like a software problem at all.

You should probably do a format and reinstall to make absolutely sure that the issue isn't software related.

That said, my gut tells me that...

There is NO way this is a software issue.

See those little green dots all over? That is a perfect example of hardware damage, exacerbated by 3D acceleration and heat, which is why it is only showing up in games.

Eventually, as the card continues to consume its flame broiled self those little dots will spread everywhere, including your desktop.

If you can keep your system REALLY cold, they will not appear, but any game will increase the temperatures enough that they will pop up again.

Call Dell up and get that video card replaced.

Hi there. I have the same problem!

Aso with a Dell Vostro 1500, also with a 8600GT.

You won't find it goes away with the reformat.

I tried that & installed XP - same problem.

I tried an external monitor - same problem.

One of my kids sat on the screen and cracked it. I got it replaced. Same problem.

I have a fault call open with Dell now. I am mightily cheesed off - I went for the top of the line laptop (Got the TruLife WSXGA+ screen) and this is the result. I found your post while looking on the interweb to see if my miseries were unique or shared. It seems shared.

Other people on web with same problem:

Your card looks like it has some broken pipelines. That's exactly what I got on a desktop video card a few years ago. Nothing can be done, except changing it. It's not repairable. ;)
