1.) Be sure that your laptop is running in Performance mode, click on the battery down on the taskbar and select performance mode.

2.) Be sure you have the latest drivers for your laptop (Dell ones are recommended)

3.) Be sure to be playing while plugged in, not with battery (therefore the performance mode on bullet 1.) )

Thank U for replying. Yup! i used to play by plugging in..Drivers are all up to date since i bought 3 weeks before.! But am Still facing the problem in two games splinter cell and POP 2. Is there any problem with FPS??? It lags when the character moves near the high Light or Smoke spots in the game.... I reduced resolution totally and kept my graphics level LOW! but Still the same problem.

    Hey fortune...

I think there's a new display driver for NVIDIA 8600M GT that just released like 3 days ago. I haven't downloaded it, but it showed up on my Windows Update as an optional update, and I also have a Dell XPS M1530 with exactly the same specs as yours. You might want to consider downloading that.

As for the lagging framerates...it used to happen to me when I was playing F.E.A.R. Extraction Point as well. However, by lowering the resolution to mid-settings it should work fine.

One time though, I was already playing at mid-settings and it started lagging again, and frequent driver crashes started happening, where the driver restarts.

One solution I tried (but I'm not certain it will solve your problem), is to run a System Restore to the time before you installed the game. Then after that, re-installing it again. However, you might lose all your current saved data for the game.

    Just a suggestion there...

Splinter Cell and POP2 are kinda old games that should run with whatsoever no problem on the 8600m GT, please download the latest Dell drivers, try and let us know..
remember to uninstall the old drivers first, then reboot in safe mode, run CCleaner and Driver Cleaner pro, then reboot again normally, and let windows install some crappy drivers it installs by itself, and then run the setup.exe from the extracted folder from the new dell drivers...

And just once more, be SURE that your laptop is set to un on performance mode...
(sometimes even plugged in, the laptop can be in batterysaver or dell recommended settings, so be sure to set it on performance mode.)
