Anyone else having problems installing HL2? I get all the way to the installer part and then it tells me that I am in safe mode and that I should restart. I have tried everything that I can think of, if someone has solved this issue, please help.

    My lappy stats are:
    AMD 3200+
    512 MB RAM
80 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
Win XP Pro (Fresh install with all the updates and divers done)

And the game is the HL2 collectors edition DVD (it skipped the error screen on my desktop but I cannot install it because my desktop is really old).

    Thanks for your help.

this probably isnt the reason why, but make sure you are connected to the internet when running the game because it is necessary that you update the game to its latest settings from valve via steam befoer playin.g

What kind of graphics card are you running in that model? It may be possible that it is not compatible with HL2. In that case i would say that there is no way that you will be able to run HL2 on that machine. I believe it has to do with bad driver or incompatible graphics card.
