How do you play old games that are designed for 4:3 screen in a wide screen monitor? When I play these games and I want it to fill the entire screen, either the top and bottom get cut off or the picture is stretched or both.

Um... that is pretty much what will happen. There's really no way around it. It's rendered to a 4:3 back buffer, so it's either going to be stretched or have parts cut off if you try to put it on a 16:9 or 16:10 display. The best option is just to play it with bars on the side so you get the full image without distortion.

Use your video card driver or monitor to set screen to "aspect" otherwise it will do that. Or visit widescreengamingforum.com for patches or minor ini file modifications to allow it to run at proper widescreen.
