I get that error code when I try to run either of the setups after putting the game cd into my computer. I haven't tried any other games but I am going to see if I have the same problem with dead space a little later. Please any help would be greatly appreciated. Im running windows 7 64bit ultimate

Did you remove it by any chance?

Grab your Windows 7 disc and do a repair/recovery.

Well I found it under c/program files (x86)/common files and I renamed it and tried it again but I have the same error. It made a new install-shield folder by itself but I still don't know what the problem is. I would really really prefer not to reinstall windows.....Is there anyway to get rid of installshield altogether and install the newest version? A weird thing is, I am installing dead space fine from the disc, but not oblivion or fallout 3....I think this means that the problem is specifically with installshield because I didn't see installshield pop up during the dead space install like it did with the two bethesda games.

Well, I'd agree that the engine Bethesda uses in both games is very special, but that you can't install them sounds a bit too much. Have you tried to look an answer in their forums? Usually they have good info.
