I am one of the many people who got the new Asus G73H. I just got it yesterday, been loving it. When I installed Oblivion though, I am getting curiously low performance. Not unplayable, but it shouldn't be an issue at all, getting 25~ fps in town areas. Driver issue perhaps? Help me out here.

Cpu / Gpu temperature? Could also be buggy drivers..
-
Temps are fine. Its also on high performance mode. It can run other games just fine. It had up to a 100+fps average for the DMC4 benchmark. This issue is only for Oblivion so far.
-
Monitor your temps and give us a screenshot while beeing loaded, just in case. Also, what drives/OS are you running ? Did you google this issue ?
-
Maybe try alt-tabbing out of the game and messing with the Set Affinity option in the Task Manager.

Its not my temps. The computer is on a cold metallic surface, the house is 62 degrees Fahrenheit. The computer runs other games fine. Finally, the instant I load my save game the framerate problem is apparent, not five minutes later. Anyone know where I could get better drivers that won't screw up my system?

Have you run other 3D benchmarks and gotten reasonable scores? I.E. 3DMark06 should break into 12k and 3DMark Vantage should be in 8k+ range. If you're not getting these scores at your absolute minimum with factory spec and drivers something might be wrong. -
Lolthread!
I had this game running on my GF6800GT Sli, on my laptop 9600m gt And on my i7 oc @4ghz + 5870
I had low fps on all those systems to various degrees. it just a buggy coded game, another GTA4 if you will. Maybe your problem is different, but I personally gave up on that game. -
As I said up thread, I do fine in other games and other benchmarks. Just not Oblivion.
-
It's not Oblivion's fault; I was running it on my laptop just fine with an ATi 4570 and Core 2 Duo at 2.4GHz, and my current desktop as well with an 8800GT and Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz.
Do you have all the patches for the game? -
Yes, I do have it patched to the latest version.
Can anyone else with this machine check out their Oblivion performance? It would be helpful knowing if it's my specific machine or the machine in general.
Problem with 5870 and Oblivion
