Hey everyone, I decided to move my topic here since I haven't gotten many replies in the other thread. I'll just paste what I've written in the other threads......IF SOMEONE CAN HELP, I WILL PAY YOU

"Hey everyone. I have a pretty strange problem with my computer and I'm not quite sure where its stemming from. Basically, I got this computer about a year ago and loved it. However, I've purchased a few games since then and I've begun to notice a reoccurring problem with pretty much any game. I used to think it was because of the game itself, but now I've noticed it pretty much happens in any game I play. The problem is this: About every 2 mins or so during gameplay (regardless of high or low settings) I get HORRIBLE random framerate drops for about 15-20 seconds, during which it can be completely unplayable. On some other games the slowdown happens, but isn't has noticeable as others. The ONLY way to fix this (if this really is a fix) is to go "task manager", highlight the game in question, go to "Set Affinity" and disabling one of the cpu's. Though this does the trick most of the time, I'm still not satisfied with this as the solution, as I'm sacrificing my other cpu.

So, what do you guys think? Whats busted? What needs fixing? Do I need a new CPU, GPU? HP insists its' a "3rd party software problem" and refuses to help me at all.

    Thanks

Its a pretty common problem with this game depending on what drivers you use. Try driver version 186.81 you can also try changing the multicore rendering option in the game settings menu.

Changed the drivers a million times and it still happens. Those are actually the drivers im using. Also, turning off multicore rendering doesn't do anything. Like I said, it happens in other games too.

have u checked for running processes in the background? you cpu isnt especially powerful and if u get things such as antivirus running the background it might lower ur performance ingame

I have turned off everything before and the problem still persists. I do notice it doesn't happen until the fan is really kicking....

that is a sign of overheating, can you run hwmonitor while playing a game and see what you max temperatures are

Okay, it happened twice then I quit. Both cpu core temps are 83c and the GPU is also 83 max.

yeah that is clearly an overheating issue, how are u using the laptop, are the vents being covered by cloth or the table? try raising the back of the laptop to get better airflow, the t5800 is only designed to run at 85 degrees max so it is downclocking to try to lower temperatures

Well, the computer is on a table. I just took it to a shop and he said everything was clear and clean....no dust or anything whatsoever......

So, you're saying its the cpu thats causing the framerate drops?

i am pretty sure that is the problem, the cpu has a thermal max of 85 and since you are hitting 83 degrees the cpu is downclocking itself to try to lower the heat causing the frame rate drops

oh man......a year of anguish and you solved it in 10 mins.

So, what should I do? Buy a new processor? How could I explain it to HP to get them to take it in, as the second you mention something non-hp (like "game") they say its 3rd party and won't help...

well first you can try solving the problem yourself, there are many guides on NBR that can help you cool your cpu, i will give you them in order from easiest to hardest
first: make sure that you get enough airflow under your laptop, prob the back of your laptop up with like a deck of cards or something,

second: undervolt your CPU, many manufactures run more voltage into the cpu than is rly needed, this causes more heat, follow the undervolting guide on nbr, http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=235824

Third, invest (or build your own like me =D) a laptop cooler, they blow air into your laptop to try to cool them down

and lastly consider replacing the cpu thermal coupound, this is the hardest to do as it involves taking apart your laptop and may void warrenty
