Hi. Recently, I've been experiencing crashes with my laptop when I'm gaming or watching a video. At first it started out with a laptop freezing for maybe 30sec-3mins then it resumes. Now the monitor turns black and completely freezes until I reboot. It's a fairly old laptop. It's completely fine when I'm doing work or just on facebook even youtube. But I can't seem to watch movies on netflix or play games like League of Legends.
Here's the Specs:
- Intel Core 2 Duo processor T9550 (2.66GHz, 6MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
- 14.1 " TFT Widescreen display with LED backlighting (1366x768)
- 4GB PC2-6400 DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz System Memory
- ATI Radeon Mobility 4650 1GB GDDR3 Memory

Have you ever cleaned out the vents? Have you repasted? What are temps like when idle and while trying to game?
-
I cleaned the vents in the best of my ability... The temp is 42-43 C at idle. My laptop crashes immediately when I start the game...
-
check your ram by memtest86+ on USB flash drive.
update drivers. use furmark to stress test gpu -
I'm not sure how to use the memtest86+ but stress test shows that my GPU is at 0 C
-
which means that most likely you need to reinstall GPU drivers.
-
I got SCORE:428 points (7 FPS, 60000 ms) for FurMark but the temp is still 0... I reinstalled the GPU driver and everything.
-
no need a score. stress est it for 20 minutes witth extreme burning test to see if it crashes
and please provide a screenshot -
-
did you reinstall directX?
I assume that is the problem. reinstall 10-th and 11-th if you can delete first. then install -
I reinstalled direct x. Should I burn-in again?
-
play game.
-
Oh, it works now! Thank you very much!!
-
welcome) ask me directly next time you have troubles. it is very good forum but you were extremely lucky I opened this thread. Next time you give name to the thread make sutr to write about a problem, not just notebook model.
Hope it really works now. -
Will do. Thank you. I'm new to the forum so I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do.
