    So here's my setup:
    Gateway M-6862
    Core 2 Duo T5750 2.0 ghz
    4 GB DDR2
ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT w/512 MB GDDR3 VRAM
Driver 8.552.0.0, used Mobility Modder to upgrade
    Vista Home Premium 64 bit

When I try to play Deus Ex, I get really ugly environmental textures. I've tried all the compatibility modes, and of course I've patched the game, but I still get them. Any ideas?

I attached a picture that I hope shows what I am talking about. Thank you.

Really? Can you see how bad it looks in corners? It helps if you angle the screen a little bit.

It seems some computers won't run DX correctly, but there is something to try. You can try to use an OpenGL renderer that works with DX. It fixed some of the graphical problems people had and even looks better in several instances. http://cwdohnal.home.mindspring.com/utglr/

You will have to edit the DX ini file (located in DX systems folder). I used settings found in this thread. Just copy the Dx ini file (for a back up), then clear it and paste the massive setting list into it. http://offtopicproductions.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1549

If you do this, you will have to change the video renderer. Either enter DX safe mode or change the renderer from the video options menu. Select OpenGL renderer from the expanded list.

Also, if you want to change the resolution of the game, in the ini file locate "fullscreenviewportx" "fullscreenviewporty" and change their values from x=640 and y=480 to your resolution, ie "fullscreenviewportx=1440" "fullscreenviewporty=900". One last thing for resolution change, you should download the User Interface Fix from TNM. It scales the UI correctly so you don't have a massive UI onscreen. http://thenamelessmod.com/downloads/miscfiles/

I reinstalled the old driver and it didn't fix the problem.

EDIT: billiam. you're the man. That worked. I had to alter the "otp" something in the .ini file, but it works and looks great now. THANK YOU.

Just to note, I have Deux Ex running normally on a Vista 64 computer. I have a 8800gts with nvidia driver 180.xx. I also have been running the game with what I listed above and it works fine. When I originally installed DX to this system, I used these fixes, so I don't know if it would work any differently without them.
