I have a g1s(2gb ram, 2.2ghz duo processor, nvidia 8600gt and windows vista) and when i start the game it takes forever to load. The opening movie was choppy on medium settings and when the game itself finally loaded all i could see was my cross hair, my HUD, and the rest was just a blue sky. Can someone tell me how to fix these problems.( i believe the g1s should be able to handle better, and the not being able to see anythings kinda sucks)

    thanks

with your kind of card, it should indeed handle Stalker well, I suspect it's the graphic card's driver issue. check out Assus's website for the video driver update.

What version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. are you running? Try updating with the official 1.0003 patch, maybe this will solve your problems.

I should note that depending on what version you currently have running you may need to apply the 1.0001 patch before the 1.0003 patch, just make sure you look at the "read me" file for the patch and follow the directions.

I applied the patches before i posted, should have mentioned that. The my driver were updated lastweek, i gues si could try again...

Speaking of performance, Fear ran pretty sloppy here and there, had to keep it on medium settings, and 1600x1024

The opening movie was choppy on my G1S, but with graphics set at 1280x720 the game plays smooth. It was even playable at 1680x1050 if you didn't mind a bunch of choppyness at times.

I have ot play 12x7 even on my desktop with stalker its a highly demanding game unless you kill off alot of the advanced visual options.

Make sure you have installed the newest drivers for your gpu. Vista intalled its own drivers when I tried to install them if you dont follow the install directions exactly as posted on nvidias site. I was playing games for 4 days on the vista drivers before I finally was able to catch on when I was trying to figure out why I didnt have my advanced control panel properties for nvidia.
