Yeah I know this is an old game, but I'm having trouble with it. I have Sim City 3000 Unlimited to be exact and I try to run it on my HP DV4000 with Windows XP Home and it won't run. When I
try to run the exe file, it shows the Maxis logo and it looks like the game is going to run but after about 14 seconds, it shows a window saying "SimCity 3000 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience".
Anybody know whats up?

That's interesting. Are you running the installer from a CD?
Try creating another user account and installing from there, see if your situation improves. -
Maybe but a fualty cd? I never heard of that, i put that game on a crappy emachines desktop running windows 98 and it worked. Very Strange...

The game works on my brother's desktop which also runs Windows XP Home.

hmmm...when you get that problem does it have those two buttons on the bottom that says send or dont send? if it does click on send and see what is the problem. usually microsoft sends you a link and tells you what might interfere with that game.
