Hi, I have problem with playing downloaded games.
For example BF Vietnam, I mount the image and the start menu shows up, I click "Play" and the game is running.
Then I create a game and the loader starts, take's a while and then the screen goes black.
The fan goes noisy and you cant do anything. Windows-button, alt+ctrl+del, alt+F4 nothing works.
The sounds lagging, and the only thing you can do is to press the Power-button.
And there might be a problem with my DVD-burner, well when I put in a empty DVD, the reader change name to CD-Reader and it comes up Error messages when i try to burn anything. Do you know what to do.Or do I need to reboot my system, if so. How do I do that (Windows XP)?
Thx in answers/Anton
Edit: Just after I wrote this thread I started World of Warcraft, and guess what. The black-screen thing happened again. The only thing I could do now would be to reboot Windows, or. Well well.

Sounds like a problem with your video driver. Try uninstalling and reinstalling. Otherwise...with your other issues, a full restore might be in order. However, I'd try the video driver for your game problem first.
I'm thinking when you say "reboot windows", you might be referring to restoring your system, or formating and reinstalling Windows? The term "reboot" simply means to shut down and restart the machine. -
Yeah i mean reinstall Windows, just didn't remember the word.
Whatever, ok I'll try a new driver. Thanks -
Downloaded new driver the ATI Catalyst 5.12 (to my X700 card). And when i boot there comes up an error that CLl.exe can't start. And still is black-screen when playing games.
LOL, feel so noob. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Anton,
You must install .NET framework from Microsoft pages in order to use Catalyst Control Center that comes with ATI driver. .NET framework isn't small thing to download though. That is why are you getting cli.exe error.
Or you can install driver only (uncheck the CCC while installing). I'm not sure, but that way should go without an error (no CCC, no error, but you can't change settings)
Try this: click "start", "run", type "dxdiag"
When a window appears click on Display tab. You should have all DirectX features enabled. If they are, you can test it with two buttons on the right. If you can see a rotating cube in direct3d test, then directx and driver are ok. Doesn't mean that all games will run fine, but just to see if dx and driver cooperate.
Good luck, -
If all of this doesn't work, try and acess the warranty on your laptop. Migt be a problem witht the drive itself.

Mod, please close this post! He is talking about downloading his programs and then not being able to get them to work!!!!
Dont people read the rules? -
Thx ikovac I'll try a .net framework but don't know which one I shall have http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/downloads/updates/default.aspx
I mean if I should have 2.0 or 1.1.
And mtrivs: the problem started on downloaded games but now it's on every game..
/Anton -
There is another thread about 5.12, and people are having problems with CCC and 2.0. I'd go for 1.1.

We do not endorse stealing software, but since the problem is more widespread we'll let this play out.

*steals piles of software*
Play on, fellas! -
Umm, yeah these forums are for legal discussions no?
Not that I haven't downloaded games before, but I don't think it's proper to be asking how to get a downloaded game to work.
just my thoughts,
Mike
