Not sure if this goes here, but I'll try anyways.

So I've been playing Age of Empires II: The Conquerors for a while now with no problems until a few days ago when the game crashed and wouldn't let me start it back up from the desktop shortcut. So I decided to reinstall the expansion, but when it gets to 21% my Avira AntiVir Personal free antivirus program alerts me that "A virus or unwanted program was found".

Usually in these cases I hit Deny Access and move on with my routine, but when I hit Deny, Age of Empires wants me to start the installation over again, which brings me back to 21% and the warning.

I've run several scans with AntiVir and nothing is found, so what's the deal? Should I tell you guys the name of the Trojan and where it is (I'm afraid this might be against forum rules, so waiting for confirmation)? How can I get rid of it if my scans don't pick it up?

I've installed/reinstalled the same CD's a bunch of times over the years and I've never run across this before. Sorry for the long post ><

*Note, Age of Empires II (the base game) doesn't have this problem and works. It's just the expansion that's giving troubles.

Just ignore the virus warning, then let it keep installing. Denying access will cause it to stop installing.

you can find some websites where you can upload a file and it'll get scanned by 20 or so different anti-viruses

i have the game so this something i actually can help
run a scan, and if the antivirus finds any problems, resolve them, even if this means uninstalling AoEII expansion. next, try to reinstall it and if the error continues, it's a Vista problem, i have it myself, 32 bit, and it didnt work.
try to run it as an administrator, and if it still is there, play it on a non vista PC :(

    Hey guys
Tried scanning it a few more times and it gets rid of the trojan, but when I go about reinstalling it, it comes back up. I'm gonna try putting it on a different computer in the house and see what happens. I've never had to start up the game as administrator before though, so this is all a little confusing. As of now though I have removed it from my PC and the scans are not picking up anymore trojans. Maybe it made its way onto the disk?

about the disk, its unlikely since when you had the disk on the HDD, the Antivirus didnt detect anything
    try it
Usa o windows XP que funciona de certeza
