I have an hp8510p, and recently reinstalled the OS to vista 64, since i'm now running 4gb ram. The trouble is that now i can't get ATI's Catalyst Control center installed for the life of me! I went to both ATI's site, and Hp's, and neither installer worked. It keeps installing via ATI install manager, and when i choose custom, there's no Catalyst Control Center there. My driver and card seem to be working okay, but i'm really dumbfounded as to why I can't get CCC onto my machine.

    Any help is much appreciated.

    to be honest.

CCC is a bunch of uselessness. i know.. i used to use it.
it's big and takes up A LOT of resources. at one point it was using 7 services!

go for DNA-drivers and ati tray tools
    www.dna-drivers.org/
these guys know what they are doing.. there is a much better performance boost with this combo.

and then add in ATItool for easy overclocking... this threesome can't be beat

    Just use ATI Tray Tools.

I appreciate the responses, but actually the reason i need it is to hook up my hp 8510p to a samsung LCD TV, to run a test pattern on. Apparently there is an issue with ATI graphics cards with perhaps this TV in general, as i read in the AVS forums. Currently i can hook it up to the tv via HDMI, but it dosen't span the entire screen, even though it is in the proper resolution for the 1080p TV.

People have found a work around through adjusting a couple of settings in Catalyst Control Center, which is why I ask. I have absolutely no intention of using it for any other reason.

If anybody cares to see the post i'm talking about, it is here:

    Thanks again for any replies

I have this problem too when connected both of my ATI cards to my HDTV HD2600 and 1950GT. THey don't fill the screen. I've also hunted the web tryingto find a solution, but I can only seem to get it to fill with the overscan option in CCC.

But it doesn't sound like you are using the mobility modder to mod the drivers before installation.

I recently encountered that same problem when updating to the 2 or 3 latest driver sets. I would select the option to install CCC, it would install, and that would pretty much be the last I would see of it. I never had that problem with earlier drivers, and unfortunately my problem was solved for me because the motherboard in that computer kicked the bucket (a k8n neo 2 plat). I never was able to find out where the CCC was disappearing to though.
