Hello. I need some help. Every time I Im playing Battefield 3 or Flight Simulator X on my Asus G53SX (i7-2670QM CPU@2,20gh(8CPUs),MEMORY=16GB,OS=Windows 7 Premium 64 bit NVIDIA Geforce GTX 560M, DAC TYPE: Intergrated RAMDAC, Approx total memory 4047MB Current display mode 1366x768(32bit)(60HZ)),
I get these windows 7 pop up messages.
FIRST IS,When playing Battlefield 3 (All on Ultra no problems) and after playing multiplayer online this windows message pops up on M,y Windows 7 Home Premium:
Do you want to change the color scheme to improve your performance?"
Windows has detected that your computers performance is slow. This could be because there are not enough resources to run windows Aero scheme. To improve performance, try changing the color scheme to Windows 7 basic. Any change you make will be in effect until next time you log on to Windows.
Options
-Change color scheme To Windows 7 Basic
-Keep the current color scheme , but ask me again if my computer continues to perform slowly
-Keep the current color scheme and dont show this message again.
[/I]
I choose this option- Keep the current color scheme , but dont show this message again.
-My question is , is my laptop having difficulty running battlefield 3? Im confused coz everything runs well on Ultra and max antialiasing. But Ive also tried settings on HIGH and anti aliasing off, but the windows message still appears. Is this normal for windows 7?
SECOND is when I START, yeah, when I start Flight Simulator X, instead of asking me like when playing battlefield 3, instead it automatically switches to Windows 7 Basic, and this message appears:
The color scheme has been changed to Windows 7 Basic
The current color scheme has exceeded its allowed memory so the color scheme has been automatically changed to improve performance. Click to see more information."
So the same question, is my computer having difficulty running a low graphic flight simulator x game?

is BF3 running smoothly? if it is, i'd just ignore it. the windows 7 basic theme happens to me too, i dont think its hardware related, more of a software thing. i THINK if you go to the FSX folder and change that compatibility settings, play around with it, it MIGHT fix it. its been quite a while since i have played fsx

I've gotten that message before, I think it was with ME3. Dismissed it and told it to never come back. Never had issues.

That error comes up when a game is utilizing so much VRAM that basically leaves not enough amount to windows to render aero theme.
Aero needs something between 64mb/128mb of VRAM to render correctly althought it proved to work on much lower VRAM cards.
Bf3 at ultra hits 1250mb of usage. Sometimes based on the map it can take up to 1400mb.
So if you want an advice, that could help performance as well, right click on BF3 exe (located in program files/origin games/bf3) and under proprieties enable the options that say "deactivate visual themes" and "deactivate desktop composition".
The game will auto switch windows theme to Basic and switch it back once you exit it along with origin. In this way you'll free system resources as well. -
@ ryu if I do what you told me, will my game performance or pc be slower?

Mhm, basically you should be not annoyed anymore with those windows issues.
Also performance should have a bit of gain due to more free resources. -

Strange, I've never seen this playing Skyrim, though I have seen it flirt with 2000mb VRAM usage on my 2gb 6950. It also managed to heat up that card more than Bitcoin mining or Furmark ever has.

I've been having the same issue with the 7970M! At times I'm shown this warning. Other times, it simply disables Aero automatically! Doesn't seem to bother me much though..
