There seems to be no help on the BF forums so maybe someone can figure this out. When I am trying to connect to a server using my wireless router, it does not connect. When I plug a computer straight into the modem it connects fine. I am under the assumption that I need to open some ports in the router. Is there some way to see what ports BFH is trying to use so I can open them? Any help would be great.

    PROBLEM FIXED!

    Quick question.

Did you make a character on the website first?

and did you properly equip your character in the game before trying to connect to a server?

And have you tried the Tutorial and see if that works?

Yes, I have played the game online but that was connecting my computer directly to the modem and not the wireless router. I have created two characters and done the tutorial first on both of them so that is not the problem. I have a crappy dlink WBR-1310.

I know I can do netstat -a in the command line but I have no idea what I am looking for.

so you use your router to share the connection with others in your place, or is it only for you?

if its only for you, then why not directly connect to the modem and use a good and free firewall like Comodo.

if you are sharing the internet with others or using it for Wifi, then you will need to edit the firewall settings on the router to open the ports that BFH uses.... or just disable the firewall on the router and use a software router on your PC.

I went into the settings and used DMZ for my computer IP. Should I now download that Comodo or just use windows firewall. This will only be for my computer right?

Router firewall turned off for my computer over wireless, windows firewall turned off, avast turned off, and it still does not find servers........... GETTING FRUSTRATING.

not sure what is exactly wrong, especially if you used the DMZ feature.

... you can make sure your computer has a static IP so that your router wont confuse it when doing port forwards or DMZ.

and check if there are any security measures for your wireless signal.

I set both the wireless and wired computers to static ip and then set them individually to DMZ and I tried ports 0 to 60000 and it still does not work. The only solution I can think of right now is to get a new router, which I don't have the money for. It is a piece of s#%t.

routers are pretty cheap... I recommend Linksys (expensive but worth it) and Trendnet (bang for the buck).

or go to craigslist and buy a router off of someone near you for dirt cheap.

Got it working. I had to load the older firmware and open the ports which are in the readme of the BFH folder. I really like this game. Hopefully they keep adding to it.
