    All:

I've got a Inspiron 1520 with an 8600mGT running XP Pro. All latest windows updates. The only video driver I've found that will play NWN properly is 163.44. However, 163.44 has problems waking the screen back up from sleep mode.

All other drivers I've tried start the game properly, but when you get to the main menu screen (when you can choose to start a new game/load a game all I get is a black screen. I can still see the in-game mouse (the little hand), but nothing else. I know the game is running, because I can click around in the dark and occasionally hit the right buttons to start a game.

    Help?

    Thanks,

    Edited for content:

I tried running the game with just the original NWN installed, then with one expansion pack, then with both, then with the final patch installed on top of everything.

Since you have the original and both expansions, make sure all are installed with the latest patch as well (1.68). Try enabling the dual-core support as part of the new patch. To do so look in your game folder and open up the nwnplayer.ini file. Look for the line that says Client CPU Affinity and set the value there to 1. If it doesn't solve the problem try setting 2 and see if anything changes.

I will assume you're playing the first game and not the second one.

Also do the standard PC maintenance tasks such as defrag and scandisk.
