Hi there
I'm kind of new here so I apologise in advance if this has been posted in the wrong place.
I have installed Dawn of War on my Packard Bell Easynote E6310 notebook and it installed fine, when I come to run the game however it will not run, nothing happens the notebook just sits there doing nothing.
I have also tried installing Medal of Honor Allied Assault and it won't even get past the first part of the intallation.
Am I being impatient and not waiting long enough for things to happen or could there be a reason why the games are not running - I've waited over 5 minutes for Medal of Honor to progress but nothing happens.
In both cases there is activity on the disk drive and the HDD initially and then there is no activity apart from the HDD ticking over.
All other software runs ok on the notebook.
The notebook has the required memory, cpu and graphics card ram but it doesn't have a 3d accelerator card as far as I know, however I am able to run the games fine on a desktop PC with a basic graphics card so I am at a loss to why the games will not run.
Please could someone advise me on what is wrong?
Also some tips on speeding up the notebook would be helpful.
Thanx in advance for any help/advice.![]()

How about giving some information on your notebook, such as the model number, what graphics card you have, etc.? Even if you have the "required" specs, there can still be large differences. An Intel GMA945 card may have enough RAM shared to meet a game's specs, but it still won't play well, if at all.

I believe this laptop has an nVidia FX series GPU...that's the problem. Games are not going to run on that laptop, and the GPU cannot be upgraded.

Hello and welcome to the forums
You need to install the latest Version of DirectX 9.0C and the latest drivers.
However I don't think your GFX is really up to something this exotic.[And I don't think this Graphics Card is supported]
Even if you manage to bring the game, it'll be far from playable.
EDIT : The GPU is a VIA S3 Unichrome GPU

The packard bell website http://support.packardbell.com/uk/item/index.php?pn=PB15B00201&g=1400 shows all I can tell you off hand.
I'm running XP home edition, I've got Norton Personal Firewall which I've disabled.
Don't know what else I can give you so please ask if there's anything else. -
S3 Graphics UniChromeTM Pro IGP with 64mb of RAM - That graphics card is meant for 2D applications only and if I remember correctly, isn't much of a performer. Read the GPU Guide for more info.

Ok well thanks for the help, the packard bell website claims that its for robust 3d gaming. So much for that.
On another note could someone advise me on how to connect to a LAN, I've got the notebook here in the office and we're connected to a LAN on the desktops but when I connect the notebook to the LAN via the same cable it won't allow access to the web? Says there is limited connectivity, the Network Adaptoor (Via Rhine II fast ethernet adaptor) is listed as running ok in the device manager?
I've tried using the connection wizard but I'm new to networking and anything to do with PC's apart from end user stuff so I'm not entirely sure what to do.
Thanx again for the graphics card advice and thanx in advance for any further advice. -
Go to the Start->Connect to->Show all connections->Right Click on your lan adapter connection->properties->in the general tab select "internet protocol TCP/IP"->Click properties->on the general tab for both fields select "* automatically".
this should work. -
Ok thanx for that, I've changed the LAN wires I'm using, it seem we have a faulty connection on one of our LAn conenctions - namely the one on the PC I'm using to post this? Don't know why but I'm not the company admin so I'll leave it alone.
Thanx for all the advice/help. -
